FRENCH FOLDING RULER Boxwood or Fruitwood 0-100 Meters 2 Side Numbers 1880-1910
Up for sale is a vintage French wooden 5 section folding ruler made in the late 18th or early 19th century of boxwood or fruit wood with a mellow. Aged patina. The sections are connected by 4 circular brass rivets and the ends are edged in brass bindings. The measurements are designated in meters(metre" is impressed into the wood) and the total length is 100 meters or just over 39 inches. The measurements are on both sides of the ruler. Despite its original fine quality. This ruler has a few detractions: 1. ink stains 2. 1 1/2" of edge broken off long ago(photo 3) 3. split at one point but still holding together(photos 4& 5) Size: 100 meters. 39 1/2 inches Condition: as found.
