I have been told that the low riders are better than the rail grabs because they lock on better. They fit on any raised rail roof rails as most SUVS and sport wagons have now. Vintage. 1920s Rottgames, Chicken Mahjong Set, 152 Bakelite Tiles, with 4 Catalin Racks and Case Set Description: Pair of vintage. Red Catalin dice, white pips. Measurement: Approximately 1/2 inch square. Vintage round. Catalin bettor. The top and bottom are a golden ochre with green lettering. Measurement 1 ½ inch diameter. 56 vintage round Rottgames coins. Eight of yellow. Sixteen each of red, blue and pink. Measurement: Approximately 7/8 inch diameter. 4 burgundy and cream Catalin swirl racks with Catalin swirl stoppers. The racks are in overall ... morenice condition with expected play wear. These racks are heavy and solid. One rack has a small chip. One rack has a bumpy area, both on top near the stopper. Brass tone coin holders. Two of the post are a little loose. There is some light wear and pitting to the coin holders. These racks have been cleaned. Measurement: approximately 18 3/8 inches. Playing field, 15 3/4 inches. Original brown oilskin case with two tile trays. Overall in nice vintage condition. Trays and case lid are lined with brown felt. The Rottgames label is stamped on the center backside. Inside lid. There are a few bubbles in the oilskin. The case corners all have wear and missing oilskin, there are some random marks on the case. The corners and a few other areas have been touched up. One of the case trays has a small area of missing oilskin, it has been touched up. Handle is also oilskin. Hardware has some pitting. The latches work, the right latch sticks a when trying to close. There is some unevenness in the lining coloring, please see photos. This case has been cleaned. Vintage Mah Jongg 4 Color Rottgames Set- 156 Tiles. Matching Racks- GORGEOUS! This 4 Color Rott Games set is exceptional quality. The set includes the following: Tiles- There are 156 tiles. The standard 152 for American style play plus 4 additional sequential flowers. The paint on the 1 bams, 1 dots and all 12 flowers is exceptional. The stickered jokers are in pairs, and appear to be on original tiles that were replaced due to faded paint. I have left all tiles in the same position in the front and back photos so you can see how beautifully the jokers compare. A few tiles have faded paint, noteabley the 8 bams. Racks- The racks are 5 beautiful. Matching swirled bakelite racks in gold with chocolate brown swirls that mirror the brown in the 1 bams, flowers and case. They are a rare set with clear stoppers. They are in excellent condition- ... moreno chips or cracks. Coin holders show typical vintage tarnish and pitting, but no damage. All flippies work, but a few are loose and need tightened. Accessories- The bettor is a also a beautiful swirled golden bakelite on one side and matching chocolate brown on the other. It turns freely and has good paint color. The small dice are also a matching chocolate brown. Case- The case is a also a beautiful dark brown. With croc finish in very good condition on the outside and inside. There is typical scuffing on corners. One is scuffed more than the others, and I showed it separately in the photos. The handle is still sturdy and the tile trays are in excellent condition. The unusual zipper closure still works, but please NOTE that the zipper itself will need replaced- it has come loose in one spot and fabric on the zipper tape has separated from the zipper teeth. So, although it technically works, you will want to have a shoemaker or luggage repair shop replace it if you are going to use it regularly- well worth doing for a Rottgame case!
