You are currently viewing a Zippo"South Chicago Packing Company" tape measure. The casing has some cosmetic blemishes. On one side it read"South Chicago Packing Company" which appears to have been a gift for S.A. Alexander who was President of the company at the time. the lettering is in pretty good shape. As for dating the tape measure I was unable to get it down to period, what I was able to determine is that the company was founded in 1914, established in 1954 and was bought out in 1972, insert from Ed Miniat LLC"1972- Miniat buys South Chicago Packing Company at 945 W. 38th Street and enters the edible rendering business" so my best guess is that is was made between mid 1955(when Zippo began using the Zorro Z) to 1972 when they were purchased by Miniat.
