Faint surface rust, and some"Original Dust" Most of original blue paint on handles. Even the remnants of a yellow price ticket still attached. Tool has seen little use(maybe none? Concept of this tool is that you can slip the foot under a metal strap. Cut it and TRAP the cut end with the little lever piece next to the blades. If you have ever seen a steel strap spring out and cut somebody( I did. It cost the guy 20 stitches) you would appreciate having this tool to do that job.

There is a band tightening mechanism designed to crank one way and lock tightly against going the opposite direction. The teeth on this revolving part are all still well-defined, and there is a satisfying click, click, click as the larger arm is cranked. The smaller arm operates a cutting mechanism that opens, shuts and looks to have no play that would cause it to not cut well. Of several springs. There are two tiny ones that function well enough right now but ought probably to be replaced sometime soon. They appear to be unremarkable and thus easy enough to find. Made of plywood with silver colored metal strapping on all edges, strap style hinges, handles on the sides and two closures on the front. I am not sure about those two metal strap pieces mounted vertically on the front unless this was a means secure the trunk onto a vehicle. Inside is painted a dark Army green and the outside is painted flat black. This would be fun to repaint or even to wallpaper and clean up the metal hardware. It's a nice size to use in your home- you can keep any number of things inside and it's a nice accent as a table, footstool or extra seating. It is really solidly made and weighs about 13 pounds. Wooden Trunk with Metal Strapping - Very Study in its construction.
With some TLC this could be made into a real gem of a Trunk. Solid wood with metal strapping. It used to have a sticker with arrival date of Sept. 1900 you can see what's left from the sticker. I purchased from a old machine shop in Cambridge 45+ years ago the trunk has French- Pleyel piano makes tools inside. I story was that a member of the Pleyel family moved to NY to work in the Steinway piano factory. And acquired a sickness, and died suddenly, the tools remained in the trunk until the Machine Shop purchased them 45 years ago and gave call me knowing that I was working as a piano builder.

Antique pottery Vase Green with metal wire strapping wrapped Japan?
Up for your consideration is this unique Green& Metal Wrapped Vase. I have no Idea who made it or when it is from. But i believe it to be from Japan Just from the style of it but i could be wrong. This a Great Decorator piece, 7-1/2" Tall& approximately 4-1/2" at it's widest in the middle. It has one break in the wire around the middle. There are three pictures that include the small missing piece of strap wire.There is also a hair line near the top running down the vase hardly noticeable it should be in at least one of the pictures. The strapping wire looks like tarnished Bronze,or Brass It is wrapped very thick around the top& bottom of this Vase. The vase itself is very Thick& heavy. This looks like a true Antique to me, Not some modern reproduction. It would look Great in Any Collectors Home Decor. ANTIQUE / VINTAGE ASIAN HARD WOOD SMALL BOX WITH METAL DECORATION & STRAPPING
Here we have a vintage. Possibly antique, hand crafted hardwood box with metal strapping and decoration. Having handled numerous Indian and Asian pieces, I believe that this is from Asia originally but with no makers marks etc. cannot say exactly where. The screws and hinged used would indicate that this is from the first half of the 20th century. The wear to the metalwork and patina wouls also suggest that this is the case. Especially as my Mother, a retired Antique Restorer and Jeweller has sympathetically and professionally cleaned this piece. The hinges etc. are in great order but there are a few minor faults and wear to the wood as well as the aforementioned metalwork. It has been hand crafted and is an artisan piece. The tacks/ pins used to attach the decoration to the lid also show this is an old and possibly antique piece. It measures ... moreapproximately 9.5 cms by 9.5 cms and stands 8 cms tall.
