Though unsigned, it is certainly from the workshop of the London based maker James Swift and would have been the largest model produced by this company(It stands at 18" as seen in the images) It's a nicely equipped outfit. Comprising four signed, cased Swift objectives(note that the 1" objective is in a Swift case, but one originally for an 1/8" lens) a substage analyser, eypiece camera lucida and a fine achromatic condenser with mechanical iris. A further analyser is contained in a drawer above the nosepiece and can be slid in the viewing field easily for polariscopic analysis. ... moreThe fine focus is Swift's patent type and works very well. All other mechanics and optics are also in excellent condition, as is the binocular prism. The substage assembly can swing out for easy access to the condenser. With the exception of some small spots on one side of the binocular tube where something has splashed on to it in the past. The pictures show this clearly. Offered is a unique. Very rare and remarkably well preserved English antique lacquered brass microscope candle holder and shade in a lovely shagreen case. Once assembled. The shade can be adjusted via the telescoping base into the required position to provide light to the microscope and protect the user from the glare of the flame. I would estimate this as dating somewhere between the late 1700’s to early 1800’s. Although I cannot say with certainty as it is challenging to pinpoint so please make your own judgement as well regarding age. As a wonderful bonus. The candle holder needs to be attached otherwise it slides back down(likely how it was designed) The thin cylinder serves as the joining piece between the telescoping base and the shade. Other than the stand. All the pieces fit well into the case, which has a nice lining. As can be expected with thin telescoping attachments. The fully assembled piece is not perfectly rigid; however, it stands nicely with only a marginal tilt between the two telescoping sections(again, just likely how it was designed) The case opens and closes by gently pushing the notch on the front and flipping it open and closed with your thumb. The shade/ fan is original and appears to be made of silk or similar material. As shown in the pictures. It has some wear commensurate with age and careful use, as well as some tears; however. It is amazingly well preserved for its age. It still folds in and out very nicely. But, of course, it is very old so you have to show care. Fully assembled and extended. BAUSCH & LOMB # 20727 BRASS( mostly) microscope OMO assessories & unusual ???
This older B& L microscope( 20727) stands apx. 12 inches tall when in the turned down position. It is all brass EXCEPT the base. I am not sure what the chrome- metal extension that comes out of the side is made of. As you can see in the pictures there is some paint loss on the base with a few rust spots where the black coating has been chipped off at some point. It looks like the clips that would have held down the slid is no longer present( missing) There is also some green corrosion near the base of the vertical adjustment on the back side. The up and down function works fine but the knob on the back adjustment wont turn and I didn't want to force it or use and penetrating oil since my knowledge of microscopes is very limited. The silver metal piece that is horizontal to the rest of the microscope is marked ELETZ WETZIAR then Germany ... morein smaller letters. It looks like there might be a portion of the end of that piece that MAY be missing but I am not sure. The pieces in the plastic- Bakelite? box seem to have little if any use. Most were still wrapped in the original paper and seem to be good shape. Again. My knowledge of microscopes is very limited so please ask if there are ANY questions prior to bidding.

Leitz Vintage Professional Microscope-
Microscope in case comes from an estate. It has sticker identifying it as"G.U. 9041" Which means it probably comes from Georgetown University, which is in the area. It comes with a 6X and 10X eyepiece and three Leitz objectives marked"6L, 3 and 1/12. Controls work smoothly and I was able to clearly look at a test slide. Cas e shows wear but lock still functions with attached key.

A vintage WATSON KIMA microscope. This vintage microscope is labelled on the front of the body tube with the makers name. W.WATSON& SONS Ltd. LONDON, model number"KIMA" Dating to 1929. It has rack& pinion main focus. Fine focus, twin nosepiece and slide clips above the square stage. Beneath the stage is an“Abbe” type condenser with lever-operated iris. Swing out filter holder and plano-concave mirror, which is good both sides. The microscope comes with 3 objectives and an eyepiece.

Antique Carl Zeiss Jena No 18(approx. 25X magnification) compensating microscope eyepiece for use with CZ apochromatic objectives. This particular eyepiece was once the property of Edwin S. Goodrich. Linacre Professor of Zoology at Oxford University in the 2nd quarter of the 20th C; he scratched his initials on the top surface(picture) These CZ eyepieces compensate for the chromatic difference of magnification of apochromatic and other high-power objectives which would otherwise show colour fringes in the images. From the style of the engraving of the makers name and the nickel plating this probably dates from between 1895 and 1910. Optically it is excellent. Without misting, scratches or fungi. The original nickel plating is somewhat dull with signs of use and the paintwork shows only minor signs of wear(see pictures) I will post this worldwide ... morebut with"signed-for" postage.
