Enjoy the best of both worlds with saltwater and freshwater fishing on the beautiful Garden Island. On Kaua'i you have the rare opportunity to cast a line for bonefish one day, and ... morethen to fish for trout the next. It's just one way (of many) to enjoy the lush beauty of our island.

Some of our top freshwater fishing opportunities include rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, and peacock bass. Hiking should be expected, along with some rock hopping. Also be prepared to get muddy as you meander through lush rainforests. Though it can be a bit of a challenge, fresh water fishing is worth the effort because it comes with some of the best views!

Saltwater fishing opportunities target the Hawai'i bonefish, along with several species of trevally. Even though bonefishing on Kaua'i is not as prolific as places such as Christmas Island, the Garden Island makes up for it with the unusually large size of these gorgeous bonefish. 6 to 10 pound fish are common, and every now and then they break the double digit weight. In addition, there's a number of other reef fish that all come with their own challenges to will stimulate your strategic creativity.

The Fly Fishing Subscription Box - What you need to know! At iFlies, we started off by selling monthly fly fishing boxes for Trout and Salmon from our HQ in Scotland. Our fly boxes ... moreare now being shipped across Europe, USA and Asia Pacific, stuffed with premium flies!

How do we pick the flies? Good Question.

Trout feeding habits change with the season and temperature of the water. It’s a complex subject which many academics research. However, that said us fisherman, are able to gauge what to use where and when by simply observing what hatches are taking place on the water.

At iFlies, we send our monthly Trout Subscription Boxes (from £5.99) with flies relevant to the current hatch here in the United Kingdom. We have found that this method has worked pretty well, with our boxes catching Brown, Rainbow, Tiger, Sea, and Brook Trout around the world.

I have launched River Marine Outfitters, a small independent Fly Fishing outfitter based here in Manistee, with the goal of providing the best possible guide service in NW Michigan.

By doing this, I am able to utilize my affiliations with The Northern Angler fly shop in Traverse City, Michigan while simultaneously, maintaining my freedom to implement my own program. What does this mean to you? Simply put everything. First of all, the days of hidden costs associated with a day on the river are gone, everything but your fishing license is included: flies, tippets, leaders, lunches, transportation, and gear everything. You will not be given a fly bill, you will not pay for rental gear, you will not pay for shuttles, and you will only pay for the guide day. That is it. End of story.

Quality control, There is no shortage of fishing guides in Michigan, but only a select few have made my very short list. River Marine Outfitters is small, and I will keep it that way, in the event that I am booked, I have chosen the best guides in our area to represent me and my company. If the guides I work with are booked, I cannot and will not take your reservation. I will never put you with a boat jockey or in a boat with a guide that I would not hire myself.

More freedom and flexibility. Because River Marine Outfitters is not tied to a particular shop or "brick and mortar" location, we have the freedom to truly customize any itinerary, whether it be a day trip out of Manistee, or perhaps a road trip adventure. We can plan a trip to maximize your fishing and minimize the headaches that come with planning such a trip. We have unlimited possibilities within a short drive from our headquarters in Manistee, with most of our destinations within 45 minutes from downtown, and numerous others a bit further away. Two days on the Manistee, a day on the betsie, and then a day on the upper Manistee? Not a problem. You no longer have to try and work around guide schedules for different rivers and different parts of the state. Our knowledge, experience, and willingness to travel, guarantees that you will be in the right place at the right time.

A $150.00 deposit is required for each booked day per guide of any trip, and deposits are not refundable unless your guide cancels a trip in the event of extenuating circumstances (usually weather related). If a client cancels a trip, the deposit may be applied to a future trip the same year if another day can be booked.

Your guide will contact you several days before the trip to arrange a meeting time and place. He will also discuss details of the trip, including appropriate gear to bring, tackle needs, and food preferences

Items that are not included in the pricing: Michigan fishing license, personal items such as rain gear, insect repellent, sunblock, etc.

Further more; I will be happy to assist with lodging suggestions, restaurants, places of interest, and non-angling activities along the way.

Thank you for visiting our site. We are a fly fishing guide service in North West Michigan, spending most of our time on the Big Manistee River.

Margy and I hope we have met all your expectations and you will come back and fish again.

Thanks

Captain Bill
