We have listed a number of additional weight for sale. Please check our other listings. Origin unknown. Referred to as the Hose shoe governor weight. It is thought to have been used on 10ft wooden wheel mill produced by Holdrege Mfg Co. Holdrege, NE based on literature produced by that company in 1891 that references its use. It appears as old with rust& scaring typical of an aged piece. This weight is referenced in the Rick Nidey& Don Lawrence Windmill Weight Guide as weight#293. The published weight& dimensions appear to be close. But this one weighs slightly more. Includes the steel display stand as shown. Fairbury Windmill Counter Balance Farm Govenor Weight, Bull Antique Original
You are bidding on a Original Windmill Weight in shape of Big Bull. This is a very early piece of FAIRBURY WINDMILL COMPANY possibly late 1880's early 1900's. Came off a ranch where the BULL and a Horse were mounted on the top rail of old gate. They had been welded on to a steel plate that was cut from gate. There is no damage to the original base of the windmill weight. The Bull is very heavy cast iron and shows BEAUTIFUL PATINA from the test of time. It surely weathered the elements from years gone by. Also was marked with signs of OLD BRAND on both sides. Looks to be a WALKING O followed by a 4 BAR with a backward J. I am told this is a very RARE and EARLY piece because there are no visible marking on it. See pictures. Shipping will be calculated on package being 30"X 20"X4" and weighing 43 pounds. DEMPSTER Windmill Counter Balance Farm Govenor Weight, HORSE Antique Original
You are bidding on a DEMPSTER WINDMILL WEIGHT made in Beatrice Ne. by the Dempster Mill Co. This Windmill Weight was found on a farm mounted on a old gate along with a BULL Windmill weight. They were welded on a steel plate that was cut from gate. The Original bottom of the horse is not damaged. Bottom looks as if the horse is standing in the pasture. Horse measures 16 1/2" tall 18"long 3/4 to 1"thick and weighs approx 14 pounds. There a few of the marking left but hard to make out. The horse is cast iron and is Beautiful Antique Condition with great patina on the paint. The cast iron has stood the test of time weathering the elements. From what I can find on the history of this Windmill weight I believe it to be from the late 1880's to the early 1900's.
