This is an original 1924 check(see picture) Nicely signed by SECRETARY OF THE NAVY and CALIFORNIA CHIEF JUSTICE CURTIS WILBUR. Curtis Wilbur graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1884. Beginning in 1918, he served on the California Supreme Court and was California's 19th Chief Justice. Wilbur served as the Secretary of the Navy under President Calvin Coolidge from 1924 through 1929, and he is credited with enlarging and modernizing America's fleet and establishing the Naval Air Force. He later served on the U. S. Court of Appeals until 1945. Sadly, Curtis Wilbur died in 1954 at the age of 87. This check is clean and intact, exhibiting the usual bank marks and cancellations. The signature is clear and bold.
