From an estate sale. An old"Majestic" Grigsby Grunow) model 20 granfather clock radio. It's from the estate sale of a guy who collected old radios, and it looks like he was doing some work on it, as the chassis is loose inside, and has no knobs. So, it's not complete. But the case and chasis are in nice shape, so if you can just find the knobs(and the table top 20's do come up every so often) you can have a pretty nice granfather clock-radio. It also comes with what appears to be a copy of the manual for the chassis. It's more than just a wiring diagram, it has tuning instructions and stuff too. Do to it's size. VTL Compact 100 These monoblock tube amplifiers were manufactured in about 1988 in California. Designed by David Manley. The design was warmly reviewed in Stereophile magazine. The amplifiers occasionally show up on the used market. But are quickly scooped up. Each amplifier is a monophonic. Independent chassis. This auction is for TWO amplifiers. The original IEC power cords are included. These are US-standard 110 volt units- no adapters needed. Each amplifier produces approximately 100 watts of RMS music signal. This pair had a short in one of the output transformers and was rebuilt by Audio-Video Specialties. Inc. in April, 2013. Both output transformers were replaced by Hammond 1650T transformers. These Hammond transformers have wider frequency response than the originals and sound significantly better. The Hammonds really let the amplifiers ... moresing. Note that each chassis had to be slightly modified to accept the larger Hammond transformers. While at the shop. All tubes were bench tested and all weak tubes were replaced by brand new ones that exactly matched the transconductance properties of the original set. All capacitors and resistors were similarly evaluated and replaced where appropriate with parts identical to the originals. This pair of amplifiers now plays BETTER than when they were new. Not only won't you find another pair of these easily, but you'll NOT find any even close to the condition of these. These are effectively brand-new amplifiers. To ensure that your amplifiers reach you intact. Each amplifier will be separately packed with all tubes taken out of the sockets and individually wrapped. Also with the amp is the original Model 258-AM Control Unit with Key. This amp is all original including the tubes that were found with it. It was covered in a coat of hardened dust as it spent the last 50 or 60 years of its life in a barn. I have gently cleaned only the exterior for handling purposes. I also gently cleaned the tubes leaving the screened number on the glass as intact as I found them. The power cord is dry rotted and will need replacing. Internal parts have not been touched. He says it worked the last time he used it some 40 to 50 years ago. Looks in great shape for its age. 3 knobs on the sliders are missing. I plugged it in and the lights came on. With the knob set at LINE ADJ the meter needle went to the middle and would move when you turned the LINE ADJUST knob. I have no tubes to test. This is all I know about it.
