I recently purchased this lens to experience'L' glass for the first time. I must say that I'm thoroughly impressed and love this lens. I've decided to move into prime lens territory and need to sell this one to help finance a more expensive piece of'L' glass. This lens did sell me on the'L' quality without a doubt. About this lens: The lens code is'UU' which means it was manufactured in Japan in 2006. The lens body is extremely clean with no blemishes that I can see. It does not exhibit the'powdered' look on the focus and zoom ring rubber that can develop on some of these lenses over time. The focus and zoom rings function smoothly with no noticeable looseness or play. The switches operate as they should. The auto focus system operates quietly. Quickly and accurately. The Hoya UV filter was ... moreon the lens when I purchased it and was only removed for the photos and went right back on. The filter will be shipped attached to the lens. The lens hood does have some rub marks which is common- as I've read- with the Canon hoods. Though the functionality is fine. The included tripod mount ring is an after market unit. It's not high quality. But it fits and does what it's designed to do. The glass is excellent with no fogging or scratches and produces very sharp images. The only problem that I found was a spec of dust between the elements that I managed to capture in the 3rd to the last photo above. I only noticed it while making the photos for this sale. I nearly missed it altogether and doubt that the person who sold it to me(a 100% positive feedback seller on eBay) even knew it was there. This spec of dust does not appear to affect the image quality or I would have surely noticed from the photos I took using it. Please note that you have to know how to hold the lens to the light with the lens zoomed in to see the spec clearly. The photo I took actually makes it look more ominous than it appears to the naked eye. I just want to be sure that the buyer knows exactly

The images it produces are stunning and has a wonderful range. This lens is very versatile and has unlimited uses. With"L" quality to boot. The lens was used over the years and does show some cosmetic wear on the paint- however it's just cosmetic. There are no dents, dings, etc. Glass is scratch-free with no haze, fungus, etc. It does have some dust particles, but nothing out of the ordinary and nothing that affects image quality in any way. Focus is fast and accurate. The push/pull zoom glides in and out fine but is rougher than when new and takes a little more muscle, so just be advised. The only things worth mentioning about this lens is that if you tilt the lens up or down, ... moreyou sometimes hear a slight rattle from a very tiny ball bearing that got loose(there are literally hundreds of them inside the zoom collar) It's not inside the glass portion of the lens, so it's not a big deal, but I want to mention it anyways. The other thing I'd like to mention is that the tightening ring on the lens does not work anymore. These are just disclosures and not meant to scare you off. The lens produces beautiful images and is very sharp. Colors and contrast are superb. All functions work beautifully. I promise, you will not be disappointed! No scratches, a few tiny specs of probably dust. That being said, a speck may turn out to be a tiny tiny scratch. I do not want to try and clean. Maybe a few specs on the inside, The lens in not perfect but probably an 8. There is some wear on the mount, so this lens has been used. I tested the aperture on"M" all the way through the settings such as 4. 8 and 22 and they all looked correct to me. functions- smooth lens focus. The A setting doesn't let the aperature do anything. Atleast when not attached to a camera. I have not tested it on the cameras. If you want a description of how items work give me specific instructions on how to test. Remembering I have no film. Overall condition is Good plus with good plus or very good lens. The lens looks fine to me. I've taken many photos to help you discover the condition of this camera.
