Vintage GE 1828 Current Limiting High Potential Diael Tester Very Rare
Up for auction. Your consideration is an Vintage Model G.E. 1828 High Potential Tester 0-3.5 Kilovolts. This tester is ultra extremely rare and hard to find in any condition, this one still works and was tested in a limited fashion and it does work. Just GOOGLE this tester and see if you can find anything about it and if anyone has one of theses in a working condition. This is only the second one on eBay as of when this tester was listed. I will disclose all the information that I have on this tester. The Good points: It has been in my possession for many years. The power on light. Lights up like it is supposed to. The Positive power/test leak is in really great shape. No breaks or cuts or burns in it anywhere. The ground ... moreconnection terminal is in good shape it tightens and loosens by hand as it is supposed to. The calibration sticker is still in tack on the adjustment of the analog meter. There are no cracks breaks or missing pieces on the front analog meter of this tester. The power ON/OFF switch does work. And give positive feedback when you move it from one position to another. All the front markings on the face are readable by the user and can be easily identified. It does work. I plugged it in. The power light comes on, the Voltage on the meter does adjust when you move the dial, and when you test a cable for shorts, it does light up the special corona indicator light in the upper left hand side of the front panel. The Bad points: I am unable to fully test all of the capabilities of this tester. The power cord is old and brittle and showings it's age. There are no cuts or breaks in it. But there is a coating of material on it and it is not as flexible as it is supposed to be, and it should be replaced. The top handle looks to be original. Most of the dates I've found so far are from the 1970s. A lot of the stuff is going to be great for tube amp repair and projects. There will be a lot of great lots over the next several weeks. Some of the stuff appears to be gently used. Some of it appears to have never been used. It's a little tough to tell whether some of it is used or unused, but I'll do my best! This piece is a great tester with leads. I do not think these are the original leads. But they work just fine and are in good condition. This was used in a classroom ... moremany years ago and has been in climate controlled storage for the last 2 or 3 decades! I put some batteries(1-D, 1 9V) in it to test, but these batteries will not be included in this listing. I tested only basic functionality, by sticking the leads into an outlet to see if it was fuctioning. This tested functioning as well as my limited testing can provide. One of the pictures shows a black round disk type thing. This is the lens cap from my camera. It is not included in this auction. I'm including a printed out copy of the manual I found online from the good people at simpson260 dot com. I do not have the original manual for this unit. I have the original bottom to the styrofoam box that this came in originally. But I am missing the styrofoam top. If you've read this far. You probably know more about all the things this unit can do than I do, so check out the complete description and all the photos. It is tested as described, but this is a 40 years or so old piece of electronics and is sold as described/ as is. This is great if you're into tube amp repair or projects. Vintage Automotive Tester Allen Scope Model 27-48 Model 27-49 Man Garage Cave
Up for bid is a vintage Allen Scope. Automotive tester. The scope consists of two units bolted together, the bottom unit is model 27-49 A7H serial 1534, the top is model 27-48 B7J serial 0828. The unit comes with a cathode tube for the oscilloscope and a timing light and that's all I have. I do not know if it works, the bottom unit has a broken switch(I believe that has something to do with the combustion test) see pictures. The timing light case has a crack, see pencils pointing to it in picture. The paint is rough and does have nicks, scratches, chips, light rust, and stains on it. The connectors for the cathode tube appears to be intact and also those for the timing light. I am guessing this unit was made in the 1960's. I have seen operator's manuals available for the unit on E-bay. My plans were to make display piece out of ... morethis, but I have other projects now. This is a vintage SPECO Tester from Components Specialties. Inc. located in Freeport, Long Island, NY. The tester is made in Japan. Sometimes model numbers indicate the year it was made. I'm not sure if that's the case here, but if it is this would've been made in 1963. The box is still together but in rough shape. The top has a chunk missing from the corner, it is pretty dinged up all around, and the corners have all been taped. The label is still good though. The meter itself looks clean and nice. There are scuffs from use over the years, but nothing major. It appears to test electrical currents or voltage(A.C. Voltage. D.C. Voltage, D.C. Current, and Resistance(1.5V) It can test 1000V, 250V, 50V, or 10V. I'm not sure exactly what this is used for or how to use it. This is relatively untested. But did show relative response to air pressure and suction off manifold. I used it years ago to measure flow rate to carburetion and fuel pressure, it worked well than. Honestly is a cool funky old piece of history, made for Standard Oil Stations for their repairs. This gizmo worked well on my Hot Rod where I used multiple carburetors and needed to synch and make sure fuel supply was adequate. I lso used it after a while on dragster engines with fuel issues. There is also a STERLING MFG. volt meter which has black tape on the back and wire coating is cracked with wire exposed. Comes with 2 test probes, the black one's wire coating is cracked in many places with exposed wire. There are some other small parts which I do not now what they are.
