If it is to be used near it's maximum rating it should be potted in epoxy, silicone, or immersed in oil. To realize the fast commutation capability, you should use copper or silver foil as the buss bar electrodes A neat feature of this spark gap is that it can be filled with different gases to raise or lower the firing voltage.
