US ARMY SIGNAL CORP FIELD TELEPHONE EE-8-A RADIO COMBAT PHONE CASE WWII ANTIQUE Up for your consideration is this great piece of American history. An antique U.S. Army Signal Corps field telephone. This type of field telephone is a mobile telephone intended for military use, designed to withstand wartime conditions. These phones can draw power from their own battery, from a telephone exchange(via a central battery known as CB) or from an external power source. This technology was used from the 1910's to the 1960's. The EE-8 model was used from the World War II era through the Vietnam War. Please be sure to see the other military items we have listed. FEATURES: This field telephone features a leather case with a flap-over style closure on the top. The flap is secured by the one snap on the front. The cover also has a"wing" ... moreon each end to help keep out the weather. The case is still soft with no cracks. With just some minor scuffs and scrapes. It has"Signal Corps U. S. Army Telephone EE-8-A" embossed in the leather on the front. On one side, near the top, it also has the number, 8C284A" stamped on it in a bright-orange color. The strap is attached to the case by solid brass hardware. The approximately 4' long, 1/8" thick, shoulder strap is a little weathered, but still soft/pliable and strong. It is fully adjustable with belt-buckle holes nearly every inch of its length. The telephone handset is marked as, TS-8-AP" It is in great condition with only a few scuffs. The handset has about a 5' long cord that is still in great condition- pliable with no cracks. The connected wiring under the flap still has most of its insulation intact- no bare wires, just some flaking of the vinyl insulation. The screw teminals and knobs on the top still turn freely. Fair condition at best. These transmitters were stored in B-17 Bombers and other Bombers with the Radio Operator. When handle was cranked emergency signal was automatically sent. One looks relatively complete and the other is only the guts. I do not know if they work at all, but strongly doubt it. The set was operated by strapping it between the legs and turning the generator handle. The name"Gibson Girl" refers to the shape of the unit, which resembled the waists drawn by the noted fashion designer Charles Dana Gibson in the 1890's. There is not one reproduction part on this lamp. We believe it came off of an ocean vessel due to it being made of aluminum. This is a Crouse Hinds traffic control cabinet with one timer. My knowledge of these controllers is limited so this is what I can tell you: The timer should have tabs that would trigger the signal to change. Before I acquired it. Someone glued metal strips to the wheel essentially doing what the tabs would do, but the action is not as accurate. The timer does work, although it could use some TLC. I used to have a signal mounted to the diamond plate that someone added to the top and it did go through the sequence. The diamond plate is removable. There is a small. Hairline crack in the lower corner of the door You will get the cabinet and a key. As with all traffic signals. This runs on standard 120-volt current– the same stuff coming from the outlets in your house. This cabinet is extremely heavy. Rail Road Emergency Signal Box – Flag
RAILROAD COLLECTIBLE EMERGENCY SIGNAL BOX FLAG& FLARES BOX LIRR Here’s a really fine railroad collectible– an old steel emergency signal box containing a red flag and 6 old 2-minute emergency flares. It has the“LIRR” identification of the famous Long Island Rail Road of New York that was known as“the route of Dashing Dan” and provided commuter and freight transport for this heavily populated area. Two doors open. One on a long compartment for the flares, the other on a small compartment for… matches? There’s a loose handle that was attached to the open-ended tube that holds the flag– see photos– the spot welds gave way. You could re-spot weld this. Or maybe better, rivet it back on, but I choose just to leave it as is, as the handle is not really necessary, because there’s a canvas shoulder strap in good condition. Brass Black Powder Model Signal Cannon on a Heavy Brass Carriage
An unusual brass cannon on a heavy. All-brass base, with a removable breech. I have seen only one other like this one(and it was obviously identical) but I do not know if these were manufactured in numbers, or if they might have been home-made from plans acquired by amateur builders( if anyone has information, please write) There are no markings. The breech/cascabel unscrew, and since there is a full 1/2 inch or so of metal there, it would appear that this could be fired, although this barrel apparently has never been fired. I used the carriage alone for another barrel for a while, which is why there are black powder stains at the rear of the carriage. Heavy for its size at about 7-8 pounds. One wheel spoke has been replaced by a threaded brass rod. Would polish up nicely and really shine with all that brass. This listing is for a RARE 3M. M-131 Traffic Signal( Programmable Visibility Signal) as shown. This is a complete single stage unit with a Yellow/Amber Lens installed. The black housing and stage mounts exhibit the usual weathering and/or road rash I have no wiring schematic for it so the lamp and dimmer module will remain untested to prevent inadvertent damage to them. There is no guarantee either that the electronics will work. It can be used to add another stage to your existing M-131 Traffic Signal. It is very heavy unit. And it will be partially disassembled and packed to prevent damage to the various glass parts such as the lamp. Diffuser, and optical limiter. It is being SOLD AS IS. NO RETURNS.
