Up for auction is the following item: 1 Hewlett Packard 8656B AM/FM/Sine Signal Generator. Used, for parts only. It's mechanically in good condition, not scratched to death. One side handle is missing. There is some writing on the faceplace, though it's just Sharpie and might come right off. Unit powers up; all buttons respond to being pressed, though a few are sticky and could stand a cleaning. The display works, and it appears that all segments are good, though the plastic lenses have a little bit of hazing if you inspect them very carefully. Electronically.well. That's why it's a parts-only unit. If you look at the picture of the bottom of the unit with the cover off, you'll see something very important is missing: the final RF generator! It looks like it was carefully removed at some point(all of the wires were de-soldered, ... morenot cut. The RF pipes were unscrewed, not cut and bent) but without that, the unit may look good, but it's kind of useless as a signal generator. So, it's good for the rest of its parts, and if you have an 8565B that's has a working final stage but is damaged in some other way, here's a perfect unit for you. I purchased this unit here on eBay a few weeks back. Figuring it would make a good wintertime project, and I could learn some RF while I was at it. Antique 1900s "Signal Corps Ohmmeter #32" Mahogany Storage Box — Leather Handle.
Beautifully refinished solid mahogany Signal Corps ohmmeter storage case. The inside of the lid has the slightly worn original instruction label and conversion tables. Box is made of 3/8" mahogany and assembled using a splined miter joint. Catches are original to the box and are in good working order. Unusual triple hinges. Box measures 8 3/4" long x 5 1/8" deep and 3 5/8" tall. Inside measurements are 8 1/8" long x 4 7/16" deep and 3" high. Outside of the box was cleaned and finished with several coats of MinWax Satin Varnish and hand polished to a soft luster with 0000 steel wool and paste wax. The wood has a very nice fine grain pattern and a dark reddish brown color. Some very minor marks from age and use. Bottom has nine screw holes for securing the ohmmeter.
