Rare African Embroidered Tribal Shoes
These very rare shoes were purchased from a closed out museum in the middle 90's. They have never been listed before this time. This set of shoes were never worn and given to a soldier stationed in Africa in 1943. They are made of leather and beautifully embroidered. The size of the shoes are 10 inches long. They were perfectly preserved in a bag from the elements all these years. Included is the original note attached to the bag from the soldiers wife. It reads as follows" Handmade Shoes- African Folk Art. These shoes were purchased in a true African Village during World War 11(1943) The widow of the service man that purchased them thinks it was 1943 but isn't sure of the year. But she is sure that they were purchased while he was on maneuver in Africa in a remote village. I will supply you with name and number of the widow ... moreupon purchase. Offered is an 11" x 14" print of a Bo Jackson caricature dated 1990 and signed"Sessions 90" and"SPORTS Sessions" I have been unable to identify the artist. His presumed surname is Sessions. I found one other caricature print signed like this(of Nolan Ryan) offered in Amarillo. Texas. Since mine were obtained in Lubbock, Texas, the artist may be based in the Texas area. Based on this being Bo Jackson. The 1990 date, and the slogan"What shoes do you choose? I believe this caricature was connected in some way with the Nike"Bo Knows! ad campaign for its crosstrainer shoes. I have several of these prints. It is possible that they were printed in advance of an autograph signing. As I obtained them in several 12x15 manila envelopes, each marked 50 Bo's- Unsigned. This brings up an interesting idea for ... morethese prints: an enterprising sports fan could purchase several of these. Arrange to have Mr. Jackson autograph a few(or many) of them, and resell them at a significant markup. That is something I may look into with the copies that remain after this sale. eBay wants me to use USPS tracking on all packages. Unfortunately. You are viewing a very very slightly used pair of Marresi HTi Dromarti Classic shoes. They were purchased new by me at the NAHBS in Richmond. VA in February 2010 from Dromarti in the UK. These are made in the old lace-up style, with perforated leather uppers, molded carbon plastic bottoms. The cool thing about these is they can accept both modern clipless cleats and older toe clip cleats. They are a size 45 euro, which equates to a 10-1/2 US men, they fit almost identically to my Sidi Ergo 2's that are 45's. These were worn only occasionally and show not wear on the uppers and just some very small scuff marks on the bottom of the right shoe. The left shoe looks brand new.
