But only one other 33-45-58. I have NO idea how that particular model number compares to all the others. Compared to the one other 33-45-58 this one still has the thermometer attached. But I will say that there is a loose piece fitted around the base of the thermometer. Not sure if it is supposed to be there or not. As noted this is a vintage piece of test gear that I have no idea how to test. I list it as USED because for all I know it may be usable as is. But it is untested and sold as is. Excellent Lot of GIA GEM Instruments, Refractometer, Polariscope, More WOW LOOK!
Attention Gemology Students and Collectors! This is an incredible lot of gem testing instruments. The Duplex II Refractometer and Polariscope are made by GIA GEM Instruments. The Dichroscope is made by Rayner of England. The Chelsea Filter is made by the Gemmological Instruments Ltd. of Great Britain. The Jeweler's Eye and Color Filters are by Hanneman Gemological here in the USA. This is perfect for the student attending the GIA. Any jewelery store wanting a spare set of instruments or the serious gemology collector/hobbyist. I am not doing gem ID anymore so it's time for these to go to someone who will use them. The Dichroscope's two calcite windows are slightly out of alignment and I am not sure if that affects the end result. The Jeweler's Eye works perfectly. DEZENG'S LATE 1800's ANTIQUE REFRACTOMETER BY CATARACT OPTICAL CO. This is an original antique refractometer from the late 1800's. I am not sure if it is complete or not. What you see in the photos is what you get. There is a rotating disk with small glass lenses in it and a larger glass lense on one end only of the tube. The rotating disk is stuck and will not rotate. Also I could not get it to raise up any higher than the height shown in the photos(32.2 cm) So the unit is not working and is sold as is. It is made out of heavy metal. On the tube it is marked: DEZENG'S REFRACTOMETER CATARACT OPTICAL CO. BUFFALO. N.Y. The condition is good with light surface rusting to the metal. The size as shown in the photos is approx. 32.2 cm or 12-5/8 inches high. The length of the tube is approx. 24 cm or 9-3/8 inches long.
