The purpose of this device is to cycle one of the fans on the air conditioning unit so that the unit can be run in low ambient conditions(night time when the outside air is cool and one would not normally run an air conditioner) It is for use in situations where you need to run an air conditioner even though the outside air is not hot(to cool computer rooms and in other similar situations where the load is producing heat independent of outside temperatures) Our condensing unit failed and was replaced with a 120V unit so we don't have any purpose for this controller any longer.
