GE MASTR II UHF BASE/REPEATER POWER AMPLIFIER
Up for auction is a GE Mastr II base/repeater popwer amplifier. It is in nice condition(see pics) And works perfectly. Meter pics show the amplifier with 1/4 watt(250 mw) drive at 450 MHz. at 13.0 volts DC drawing about 31 amps. The output pinned my 150 watt Bird wattmeter. I backed it off to the rated 100 watts and ran it for about an hour. The heatsink was warm, but the Bird dummy load was too hot to touch, so I shut it down. This amp fits the standard Mastr II chassis. But I also have 19" rack mount brackets for these GE amps if required. This amplifier has a 7 day Right Of Return. This amplifier served as a reference amplifier to multiple professional audiophile equipment reviewers from its introduction in the late 1990s until the end of its production run in 2007. It took the ARC Reference 110. Introduced in 2007 at a list price of $9,995, to knock the VT100MkIII off of its pedestal. Rated at 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms with 110 watts available before clipping this amp is known for its ability to drive virtually any speaker load at very satisfying volumes levels. If you've ever wanted that sweet liquid and warm sound that can only be produced by a tube power amp but with the bass extension and control of a solid state amp. The ARC is the way to go. I also will provide a basic grounded 3 prong power cord for operation right out of the box. However, I would stongly urge the successful bidder to upgrade to an audiophile quality power cable. This amplifier has relatively low hours of usage. I did order 3 replacement knobs, t hese new knobs are dark brown while the original knobs are black. But the problem is how to glue or attach them to the pots. It may be simpler to just order new pots. They are available on the'Bay. I am selling this as is. Used. And it works, but needs some repair work. Then to this amp and then to the speaker. It worked well. This piece of equipment had a Peavey 50/50 power amp as it's backup. I set up this rig in a coliseum environment and I could tell no difference between the Carvin HD1800 and the Peavey 50/50. It has been gigged ... morebut is in perfect working order. It comes with the SKB rack unit shown in this auction. The Speaker Binding Post in the back of the amp is missing. I only use 1/4 inch phone jacks for connecting speakers. So when the binding post came off and started rattling around in the rack case, and after not being able to retrieve it by turning the rack case all directions trying to shack it out, I just left it in the case. Now it is gone. I have ordered the replacement part from Carvin and it should be in BEFORE the end of the auction.
