The Model 410 C-V Plotter is a versatile unit specifically intended for measuring various properties of semiconductor devices and materials. It includes a 1Mhz capacitance meter. A variable dc voltage for bias stressing, and a unique ramp generator/programmer that offers a high degree of automation and convenience. Front-panel programming controls allow the voltage applied to the device to ramp between adjustable Start and Stop limits at the desired rate. Bu operating the Model 410 in conjunction with an X-Y recorder, a real-time C-V plot is simultaneously produced. The operator has the choice of single plot operation, in which the ramp stops on reaching the stop limit, or of retrace operation, in which the ramp returns again to the start voltage, thereby producing both an outgoing ... moreand retrace plot to facilitate hysteresis effect studies. The return can be automatically dotted, if desired, to distinguish it from the outgoing trace. A programmed lamp-power outlet is provided that is suitable for driving a microscope lamp or other non-inductive load. In single-trace operation, lamp power is available except during the actual C-V plot. In retrace operation, lamp power is provided for one second between the two traces to form the inversion layer in an MIS device before making the return sweep. There is provision for fully automatic operation with a temperature controller in which the temperature cycle takes place between two C-V plots. In this mode. If desired, the stress voltage is automatically applied to the device for the duration of the temperature cycle, but not during the C-V plot. This entire sequence is controlled by logic in the Model 410 and temperature controller, and requires only the pressing of a single button to initiate it. This instrument is used.
