Here's a vintage Maccaferri Islander plastic guitar for repair/ parts. It's about 35 inches long and 13 inches at the widest. The tuning pegs seem to be geared. And not friction pegs, but need new knobs. There are cracks on the top that runs through the bottom and all the way at the back. Fretboard show signs of wear. Bridge saddle is included. Rare/ Vintage- AS IS For sale is this Vintage Maccaferri G40 Guitar- it was intended to be a professional instrument although it is made of hard plastic. The idea was to create an acoustic that was not prone to structural changes due to humidity. The guitar is in relative poor condition and will need some work. The headstock has come apart and though the tuners still work. It is difficult to keep them from slipping- a repair has been made just above the nut. There is an area of the back lower bout that is warped(due to melting- something most wooden guitars will not do) I tried in vain to photograph the melted area, but it simply will not come out in a photo- it would not affect the playability of this guitar(once set up properly) It is missing 3 of the position marker inserts on the back of the neck. This is an early painted plastic Terri Lee marked Pat Pending on her back. She is heavy compared to the dolls marked Terri Lee! She has the remains of her blonde mannequin wig. Someone cut it along the way. You can leave it like this or put a wig over the top if you want. There are some rubs from play but she will look fine when dresses. There is a tiny rub spot on nose. Chin and cheek. She also has light pant off lip. I think maybe someone enhanced the edges of eyebrows but not sure. She has just a light pencil line split on each side of her head. MADE IN USA VINTAGE PROJECT Maccaferri G30 Acoustic Plastic Guitar All original
Maccaferri model G-30. PROJECT, the flat top version of Mario Maccaferri's design(the G-40 was the archtop version and retailed for twenty dollars more) These were intended as a serious instrument and not a toy. They are very well thought out and designed, and play well and sound better than might be expected. They were not as well recieved in their day as was hoped, and hundreds of unsold examples languished in a warehouse for some 30 or so years before their rediscovery and distribution in the 1980s. However, Maccaferri was compensated by the success of his plastic ukuleles, which sold over 5 million! Several years ago somebody found a warehouse that was full of these and I happen to have just purchased 4 from somebody that bought these at that time. Unfortunately this had some pretty serious cracking on the headstock which I have pictured ... moreand also there is a very small surface crack in the cutaway. The guitar I am assuming is unused because it was just in that warehouse for years. It is in fantastic shape(not mint though) other than the headstock break, and still has the form fit cardboard for the inside of the box and the hang tag. This is also causing the action to be very high but I believe once you fix the headstock that won't be a problem. These are fantastic sounding guitars. It's somewhat of a secret amongst some players, I have seen these sell for as much as $600 and they are classic rare guitars. The guitar is set up well, the action is good, I just restrung it and it's cleaned up. If you have any questions at all please ask. The teeth are about 1/2" deep. These are being sold for function or to cut up and be used for the material. Take a look at the photographs to see everything that is including in this listing. Included are(27) Of the smallest cog which weighs in at just over 1Lb. The center hole has a diameter of BLANK with a raised lip with a diameter of 3" There are(4) of the medium cog which weighs in at 1.5lbs with a 1 and 1/2" diameter center hole. The raised lip around the center is about 2.5" wide. From tooth to tooth this cog has a diameter of 6" There are 22 teeth on the medium cogs. 1) Large cog weighs in at just under 2 lbs. with 1 and 3/4" ... morediameter in the center hole. Vintage MADE IN USA Plastic Macafferi Islander with original box. Rope strap, papers, plastic and all original parts. These were intended as a serious instrument and not a toy. They are very well thought out and designed. And play well and sound better than might be expected. They were not as well recieved in their day as was hoped, and hundreds of unsold examples languished in a warehouse for some 30 or so years before their rediscovery and distribution in the 1980s. I purchased 4 of these at one time from a retired repairman and they all had the original boxes and accessories as this one does. I have pictured in pics 7-9 a back view of the top of the neck. It's very hard for me to figure out exactly what is going on but I really don't ... morethink that entire area is cracked. I think it is scratched or maybe something about that plastic material over time formed what looks like a lot of cracking. It does look(in person) like what you are seeing in pic 7 is a crack, so I think it started there and just spread through the plastic, I just really don't think that's all cracking, if any of it is. This is a plastic neck and it's 50 years old and sat in a warehouse for 30 years so I think that is just something that may happen to this material over time on the surface. I don't think that needs repair but it's definitely a cosmetic issue. However the D string tuner does need to be replaced. It may be fixable it is still barely turning in each direction but I have to turn so hard that it really is just being listed as broken. If I could have gotten a string on there I would have, so the biggest part of this project is putting a new tuner in. Pic 12 shows the left side of the bridge, there is a rectangle of some sort that fills in on the right side of the bridge, I'm not sure what that is but I think it was part of the original design. There is no damage to the plastic. This is a 1961 vintage original NASA project Mercury Space Capsule Bank Souvenir that was made to celebrate US Astronaut Alan B. Shepard JR. First Sub Orbital Space Flight on Friday May 5 1961. This Space Capsule Bank is made of silver-colored plastic and is about 4 1/2 inches high by 4 inches wide. It is very highly detailed and has the first US Astronaut flight information and technical data and date of Alan B.Shepard Jr.s May 5. 1961 flight molded into the bottom along with a picture of the astronaut sitting inside the capsule. The coin slot is in the top of it and the bottom has the indication of split across it for ... moremoney to be taken out. This bank has not had that split opened; the bottom is unsplit.
