Solid Brass and Onyx Ornate Etegere or Pastry / Chocolate Display RARE & UNIQUE
Exquisite Brass- Stone- Beveled Mirror Etagere or Display Shelf Rich and Unique is what you get with this fantastic example of French Detail in Brass& Stone. Solid brass frame with onyx shelves and beveled mirror back. Ormolu detailing and intricate design adorn this beautiful piece. If it were worth its weight in gold it would be priceless but my guess is about 200 pounds. I have only seen one other not quite as large as this 15 years ago at a high end antique show in San Francisco. This one measures 68" tall to top of finial. 43" wide to outside of scroll of middle shelf, and about 13.5" deep. Measurements are not exact but close. I have been told this piece was used in either a French Chocolate or Pastry Shoppe for displaying goods. Whatever its original use was this étagère could be used in many ways, let ... moreyour decorator decide or put your imagination to work. You will not see another one soon. The brass has turned green in many areas and gives nice age and depth to the look. In other areas it has turned a beautiful dark rich bronze color. The only damage that can be noted considering its age is the onyx on the top shelf left corner has broken but all the pieces are present and held in place with the brass finial. Not readily noticed and an easy fix for a professional stone installer but I have had this piece for over twenty years the way it is and have loved it just that way. Due to the size and weight of this item I will not be offering shipping. The successful bidder can arrange for pickup. It is located in the San Diego area.
