I see NO flaws, unless, as stated above, there is any flaking of the paint, I am uncertain because of this being painted on a textured velvet, it could all be original, otherwise if it did flake at all, it would be very minor and isn't showing threat of continuing to flake. Antique Hanging Tin Kerosene Oil Shop Lamp old blue paint as found light lantern
Here's an antique oil or kerosene country shop lamp up for bids without reserve. It's made of tin and has an iron hanging bracket along with a glass chimney. It spent decades hanging in an old barn and other than some cleaning. It's just like we found it. It has nice, original, old blue paint with surface rust that gives it a great, rustic appearance. Lamps like this one hung in shops, factories, and garages long ago and have since become quite popular with decorators and collectors. This one is complete with tin font, burner, glass chimney, iron hanging bracket, and deflector shade. The shade is 13 7/8 inches in diameter and fits on the bracket above the font. The font doesn't have any holes or cracks. As for height, the lamp is about 21 1/2 inches high when fully assembled. To make it functional, a new burner would probably ... morebe needed because of the rust. But this piece is a super item to display and would look especially nice in a cabin, cottage or log home and it would blend in well with industrial age items as well as country antiques. ANTIQUE DIETZ NO. 2 BLIZZARD OIL/KEROSENE BARN LANTERN WITH BURNER. HANGING LOOP WICK, GLASS SHADE AND BAIL HANDLE This old barn lantern was found in an estate in James City County. Virginia. It is one of the larger lanterns made by Dietz and measures 15" tall, not including the bail handle, with a base diameter of 7-5/8" The lamp shows remnants of its original factory applied blue gray paint and remains in good condition. The lantern is complete with all working parts including the glass shade. Bail handle, hanging loop, wick and font cap. The wick adjustment works properly, and the font cap is easily removed. This is a very rare and unusual book. 1926 edition of the Oil. Paint Drug Reporter. Who's Who in the Chemical, Dyestuff, Drug, Paint, Oil, Fertilizer, Oil, Fertilizer and Related Industries. The chemicals are listed alphabetically. There are a couple of newspaper clippings inserted in the book and I've left them. One is an article from L.A. Times about prostate, another from a drug listing publication. This book is in fair condition for its age. Definitely readable although I've taken a picture of a stain that starts on top of page and carries through to 3/4 of book. It is at top and does not interfere with the reading.
