Up for sale is a very well kept and fully functioning Carver M-1.0t power amplifier. I used this amp on a pair of Polk Audio LSi15( 4ohms. 89db/1watt/1meter efficiency) and it pushes more power than the speakers can handle. It is louder than a NAD2200PE and pushes 400W@ 4 ohms with no sweat. I used it for about 2 weeks after purchasing here on eBay. Now it's time for it to find some else's speakers to power. The front of the amp still has a very good glossy finish on top of the"zippo metal" look. It does have a few scratches on the top right corner from the previous owner. The meters work wonderfully and pretty enjoyable to watch with loud music. I checked the inside and the capacitors are in good shape with no bulge on the top. It doesn't come near to breaking a sweat at this job with it's 100 watts per channel into 8 ohm rating. The pictures show the LED'S lit up for the signal strength, as well as the locked in station. Carver in general has a product that differentiates it from other manufactures and they call it ASYMMETRICAL CHARGE-COUPLED FM STEREO DETECTOR. It definitely takes a while for one to get used to Carver receivers in general and you could easily press a button or two and lose all sound! Hence, it's a darned good idea to press buttons slowly and one at a time while learning it's in's and out's. Carver receiver Magnetic field amplifier MXR-150? FREE SHIPPING
I purchased this new back in the mid 1980's and has been sitting in the closet for years. I can't find a part number on the unit(front or rear) or in the instruction manual but the manual says it pumps out 150 watts so I guess it is a MXR-150 or equivalent. The unit is made in Japan and the S/N is A71207586. I recently purchased a house and decided to use this receiver in my master bedroom. It worked fine for a few weeks then the left channel would cut out intermittently. If I tapped on the unit. Jiggled the A-B speaker selector or balance knob the left channel would come ba ck on. A friend of mine said the switches might be dirty so I had him spray some Deoxit connector cleaner into the pots and switches and now the problem is much worse. Playing with the knobs seem to make very little difference. Now you have to bang on the top ... moreof the receiver for the channel to come back on. This unit comes with the instruction manual. Up for sale is a rare Carver 4000T Sonic Holography Surround Preamplifier and M1.0T Carver Magnetic Field Power Amplifier. Manufacturing date says March of 1988. Making this 25 years old now. I have not used these for a while but they powered on and everything works. Some knobs could use some contact cleaner since it has not been used for a long time, and it is missing the rubber feet on the bottom. On the M1.0T, one of the binding posts broke off in the past and has since been replaced by one that was pulled from an Onkyo receiver. It's a bit smaller than the others but works just fine(see pictures) This particular power amp has a loud turn off thump so you may want to observe it first before hooking up to your high end speakers. You are bidding on a Carver PM1.5 Stereo Power Amplifier. I am the ORIGINAL Owner. My wife said it's either her or the Carver! so my beloved Carver has to go. I dusted it off and tested the amp. wow! This amp is awesome. The specs are available on-line. But to summarize, it can put out 450W/Ch at 8 ohms. Up to 1200W Mono-Bridged! of clean power. I can't think about this too much or I may keep it. I used it as the main vocal PA amp in a small combo years ago. It was NEVER over-driven. It survived the usual portable rack dings and scratches without anything major. All-in-all it was well taken care of. It still works and sounds GREAT! It was never serviced or modified.so if you are inclined. VINTAGE CARVER M 1.5 MAGNETIC FIELD AMPLIFIER, UPGRADED
Up for sale is a Carver M 1.5 magnetic field power amplifier. Serial number 0450. This unit was recently(January 2013) refurbished and upgraded with all parts far superior to those available when it was first built. Thus this vintage equipment is better than brand new. It has been tested once since being rebuilt, so has only an hour at most of working time on it since being upgraded. The Carver M 1.5 has a total power rating of 1200 watts RMS. It cruises(to compare it to an airliner at altitude) at 350 watts per channel. During"musically significant periods" Like take off and landing, it increases its output up to 600 watts per channel. Should it be necessary to suddenly favor one channel, the magnetic field amplifier can"borrow" up to 150 watts from the other channel and produce 750 watts RMS of head room. For practical ... morepurposes, consider it as 600 watts RMS per stereo channel, but limiting itself to 350 W/ch to conserve power. Its front plate has rack mounting notches and handles. Connections: one pair(L/R) of RCA plug line level inputs. Two pair(L/R. +/ speaker connections for one set of speakers, with an impedance of 2 to 32 ohms. One built in AC cord. That's all. It is designed for a specific purpose- superb stereo output of accurately and highly amplified musical input. Note it has no volume control. It was a standard piece of safety equipment all clients had to have& know how to use before we hit the trail. This is also the type used by the Not Scouts. However this one is of 60's vintage and may have been U.S Navy issue. A solid piece of equipment. Not a GPS, but useful for scouts earning merit badges, for hikers& guides. Because, if your GPS runs out of power, a sensible hiker will still carry one of these. This is a fine precision instrument. It should be on a hiker's belt. Not in my junk drawer. I did some checkout on this amp and found the following: The main power supplies including the rectifiers and filter caps are in proper working order. All output devices seem to be in proper operating condition. The dc output offset voltage is very little. Normal I would say. Both channels pass signal at low power, but trip the protect circuit at higher power. The voltage regulators that power the preamp and drivers appear to be faulty, so the approach would be to correct this fault first then go from there. I would not recommend this unit to anyone who is not a competent SS repair technician or who has a cost effective access to one. Of course. It could be used as a parts unit. The external condition is quite good. If it doesn't sell I guess I will part it out as I don't have the time or patience to undertake a repair job- too many ... moreother things that need fixing. The front glass plate covering the big VU meters is in very good shape. We couldn't appreciate the design as the glass is glued by the factory and overtime small fine particles of dust and fibers get in there. No room to reach there to clean. As you can see in the pics. We took the complete face plate off in order for us to clean it in detail. Finally were able to reach there inserting a wet piece of paper and that way we cleaned underneath the glass but still you may find some light residue. We were able to clean 85% of the that area.
