For sale today I have a what I think( totally not sure exactly what it is? is either the cone portion of a Live Bull Nose Center( minus the bearing part and Morse sleeve. I guess? or perhaps it is a Dead Center( I have a very limited amount of knowledge about this item. It came from the moving sale of a retired machinist. I remember taking machine shop in school 40 years ago and we used Dead Centers and Live Centers so I kinda remember them, but what confuses me about this item is that the shaft on the back or base is straight-sided rather than tapered like a Morse Taper. So it is a bit of a mystery( As to the condition, the item is used and it does show expected wear. I have about 60-80 BT40 tools I will be selling in another auction at a later date.This is a well built Japanese Machine designed for production machining. It is very rigid and weights around 8500#s. It is still wired up in my friends shop and fell free to come in and test run for yourself. I recommed you never buy a machine unless it is under power. This is an old vintage complete L. S. Starrett"No. 33 J" Combination set with center head with a 6" rule. This old set was made back in the day when quality really meant something! This three piece set comes with its original box(and possibly original tissue paper! and the condition is excellent in my opinion. Given it age. The box does show wear and has been taped on a couple of corners. The set has only minor wear with only very minor discoloration on the steel colored sections. And the black painted sections are in excellent condition as well. A real gem of a set with it original box. Made by L. S.
