If you haven't used a power hammer, you don't know what you are missing! See the videos of this hammer in action. Power hammers have been used to help forge metal ever since the smith decided that he needed more capacity to forge a larger mass than he was capable of doing with his own hand. This need generated the idea of using an assistant as a striker. Multiple strikers, and then the power hammer. Today, power hammers are still one of the most efficient ways to increase production and profits. Many Bladesmiths and blacksmiths find power hammers a must for saving time. Power hammers will last a long time if properly maintained. This Power Hammer is the OLD STYLE Little Giant. This style has the wrap around ram guide which are very popular because they are easy to adjust and stay adjusted well. The ram is driven by the flywheel. Toggle arms and toggle links. The clutch on this particular hammer has a foot style clutch spider with new belt lining which should last a long time. Details about parts and restoration: This machine has both brand new and restored parts which include: new main Babbitt bearings and new clutch pulley Babbitt bearing. Restored crosshead with new pins, new steel pitman arm with new brass bushing(replaces the old two piece bronze pitman) A brand new crank pin was installed. The ram is brand new and the main toggle arms were rebuilt. There are new knuckles, pins, T links and new locking nuts. There is a new spring, new clutch collar, new drawing dies& new keys, new motor and new motor mount, new belts, new double groove pulley, new oversize clutch bolt, new oversize treadle pin, new clutch rod& new clevises, new shims for crank and wrap around guide.
