A vintage genuine ox horn cased loupe. It has a glass lens that is in good condition. The horn covers have flaws mainly around the edges. There are tiny chips. Cracks and surface delamination all of which add to the cachet of age and use. This is a high quality but affordable loupe/ hand lens with built in light. And including the batteries! NEW IN BOX! It is polished aluminum and folds into a protective cover. It measures 1-5/8" x 13/16" and is teardrop-shaped when closed. Doublet lens. 18mm dia, 20X, lit by(2) very bright white LEDs, powered by(3) button-cell batteries that are included. E. Leitz Wetzlar 12x magnifying loop or loupe. Comes with what appears to be original case. Case has moderate wear but there are no holes. Rips, tears, closes properly. Loupe glass is clear and in good condition, I could not see any scratches, gives clear quality optical view. The signed side is in good condition, only tiny scratch which is barely noticeable, other side has surface loss about 1/2 by 1/4 in. one other small spot of loss, also a couple small scratches. There is Minor oxidation or discoloration where lens is mounted into frame, hardly worth noting, does not affect viewing. Loupe swivels freely. See photos for overall condition. Loupe is 2 1/2 in. fully extended, 1 1/2 in. closed.

Up for bid is a very old folding Swift 20X loupe magnifying lens that was made in Japan. Closed it measures 1 ¾” x ¾” And is ½” thick. The lenses look good to me. No cracks, chips, etc. It is made out of a very heavy metal with a silver tone finish. What a great tool this would be for jewelry repair. Beadwork, model building, watch repair etc. This loupe is in great condition showing only the slightest signs of use. I have not tried to clean it up at all. Description An Attractive Period Early 19th Century Translucent Faux Tortoiseshell and Cow Horn Pocket Folding Double Combination Magnifying Glass. Or Jewelers Loupe. As can be seen this is an original item. And not a reproduction or copy. Due to shrinkage there is an age related and crack to one of the Frames. And a few to the Handle as shown clearly. These apart the Frames and Handle are in good condition with a great colour and with only a nibble or two. Minor surface wear etc. All totally in keeping with the characteristics of the Material used. All the cracks are stable( have no movement) There are no other losses. Breaks, cracks or major damage other than as shown, rest assured that the item is still structurally very sound and not at all delicate or fragile. Both Glass Lenses have very minor surface wear but have no damage. Both Lenses ... moreare firmly in place. The Crack has not affected the stability of the corresponding Lens. They have quite strong magnification. One stronger than the other but with both being comparable in strength to that of a contemporary Jewelers Loupe as I have tried to show. Both Lenses used together makes for an even stronger magnification. The Frames each move firmly on their Brass Pin Hinge with no excess play or slack. The individual Frames will stay in position of their own accord as demonstrated in the Photographs. Both Brass Pin Fixings are sound and strong. An original and attractive good quality collectible. About 2 1/2" when closed and 3 3/4" open. It is a bit tight when sliding. Needs a little cleaning. Bottom is slightly out of round. Eye piece(black part) is also scartched and oxidized.
