VINTAGE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN JEWELRY BOX - SOLID OAK - WITH RARE STEEL SAFE LINER
This vintage Victorian jewelry box has been around for as long as I can remember. I don't recall it ever being in great shape, but now is in extremely rough condition- See attached photos. It dates from around 1900. The case appears to be solid oak- not plywood. The unique box metal liner is plated(tin? steel with a heavy. Hinged, cast steel(iron? combination"safe" door. The combination lock and latch d oes not work. But all or most of the parts are still there(in a bag) The combination lock dial and most of the lock parts are brass. The finely detailed ornamentation is nonferrous metal, some brass and some(probably zinc) die casting. It originally had a gold-colored, silk pleated upholstery on the inside of the wooden top, but it had virtually disintegrated, so I put it out of it's misery before taking the pictures.
