I scrapped the HP8660C mainframe since it needed some repairs and it was taking up too much space. Before I scrapped it I tested the controller and it did power up and the controller section appeared to respond when I depressed the front panel keys and it correctly programmed a 86602B RF plug-in when the complete mainframe was tested a couple of weeks ago. The 6th digit on the display is partially out on the left side, in the number series on the display, the“4” is not shown correctly since that digit on the display is not good. HP 8660C RF Signal Generator Mainframe
This is a used HP 8660C RF Signal Generator for parts. This unit partially functions. But caused a known good RF module to keep dropping out. I have used the side panels and the Manual Tuning switch& Tuning RPG to replace ones on a good unit that got broken in shipping. The right handle on this unit is completely broken off. The left handle is broken at the top. This was the shipping damage to the original good unit. The keyboard of this unit appears to function properly and the frequencies can be selected as shown in the first three pictures. I have not performed any troubleshooting on this unit since it was intended to be used only for replacement parts, however, my guess would be that the 11661 Frequency Extension Module is causing the dropouts. There are certainly a number of good assemblies in this unit that could be used for repair ... moreon other units. This is a heavy unit(about 60 pounds) I will pack it so no additional damage occurs. We junked a Hewlett Packard 8660C mainframe a while back since it was in poor electrical condition but we saved the 2 side panels and rear feet since we have noticed that a lot of the HP8660 A/B/C/D synthesized signal generators have bent or broken handles from either poor packaging in shipping or because people put(drop) them on the floor at a bad angle and damage the handles.
