This London dome hearing Horn is made of brass and has a gutta percha tip. The bell portion is 2 5/6" high by 2 1/8" in diameter at the base. This late 1890's to early 1900's hearing horn is in good condition with the exception of 2 minor dents. One in the side of the bell portion and the other at the bend of the stem near where it is soldered to the bell(see photos) This is a nice example of this form of early hearing aid device. The batteries always lasted 5 to 7 days wearing it 12 to 16 hours a day. When you put the battery in and close the battery door that turns on the aid. In a few seconds you will hear a humming sound that lets you know the aid is energizing. Then it turns on the receiver and works as it is designed. You can turn the aid up by pushing the elongated button on top and holding it for a second or two and then release. It has three volumn settings. To turn the aid off you open the battery door.
