Up for bid is a neat old office desk item for moistening envelopes or stamps. It was patented Jan. 31.05 making it over 109 years old.The glass is really heavy. It would make a nice paperweight or at the least a nice desk top conversation piece. The metal on top has some light tarnishing and it still has the wooden wheel with the cloth strip around it.It is 4" long by 2 1/2" wide and is 2" high. Mint Green Sengbusch Ideal Junior Stamp -Envelope Moistener
As a user of discount postage. And a writer of letters, I would have worn my tongue out by now if I had licked all those stamps and envelopes. Fortunately, as a Postal worker, many, many, years ago, I remembered a stamp moistener that might assist me in doing the job. My first find was this near perfect mint green Sengbusch Ideal Junior, made in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The green color sold me on it, and I have not seen the larger sizes in the mint green, although they certainly might exist. This wondrous device is 2 1/2" x 2" x 2" and I can find no chips or cracks missing on the base. With porcelain tub, porcelain roller bar and a round stick which holds the roller in place. The stick appears to be made of some type of plastic. This piece originally would have had 4 rubber'feet' But only one is present now. This piece is 4.25" long. With a roller that is about 3" long. Very good condition with one tiny chip at the edge of the hole inside the roller. The other item is a metal one-hole punch. This works very well. And the arm swings down with ease. Vintage Duchin Fifth Avenue weighted sterling silver envelope-stamp-label sealer/moistener. Piece is in great condition(appears never to have been used) no cracks. Chips or scratches. Inside is clean no residue, cork washer is solid no dryness or cracks. Needs a quick cleaning and polishing there are a few places that are tarnished. Measures approx. 2 1/4" tall. Original box has wear that includes bottom section is discolored, has spots and stains, paper is peeled in a large section on top cover and there are a few scuffs and scratches.
