1961 Harmony H306A Valco All Tube Guitar Amp Great DIY Project No Reserve
Here’s one for all you DIY amp builders… this is a vintage Harmony H306A guitar amp. Built for Harmony by Valco in 1961. This model is a favorite among players, lots of players compare it to the Fender Tweed Deluxe, although there is little actual resemblance in the two circuits… lots of nice reviews can be found for this amp. This model is also preferred by many over similar sized Valco and Supro model amps. We took it on trade from a good customer of ours who purchased it with the intentions of restoring or having it restored but after a couple of years of it just sitting in the his closet, decided he was never going to get around to it. It will make a nice DIY project for someone with the expertise or as a parts amp… lots of great vintage parts here. Plenty of pictures below and as you can see this amp is missing all tubes, the speaker, ... moreand the handle, came to us this way. This amp does need to be completely gone through, as obviously the gentleman that sold it to our customer had already started working on it. As can be seen in one of the pictures below showing the interior of the chassis, there are 9 new(yellow) Cornell Dubilier capacitors, the one blue capacitor you see is also a recent addition, and there very well might be other changes as well. We have not traced through the circuit and of course the amp has not been tested. The power and output transformers are not the original, mounting holes do not quite match up, and we have provided close-up pictures below showing the numbers on these transformers, which need to be researched as they may or may not be correct for this amp. Also for whatever reason, someone sprayed some red paint in the interior of the cabinet, as you can see in the picture of the amp from the back this is really not that big a deal… if I were restoring this one, I would mask it off and brush or spray the interior of the cabinet flat black or grey, just to give it a nice clean look. Accumulated caps from repairing amps. I whip the old caps out of my vintage amps when I get them and put new ones in for reliability and quietness. Not sentimental about it. Fresh ones work better. Some people are sentimental. So I've got into the habit of sticking them up for sale when I've got enough to cover the bottom of the box. Some are definitely dead, some might reform, maybe suitable for scooping out and putting new caps inside to preserve the look. This is an awesome drum set for restoration and cleaning and refinishing. Floor tom wrap is ripped apart on one side of the drum. You could replace the floor tom wrap altogether or just get a small piece that would cover the missing wrap. One side of the bass claws and rods are replaced with non original claws and rods. One side of the high tom tension rods are missing. And the bass drum spurs are missing but the mounts are there with screws and in good condition. Rubber feet for floor tom legs are missing but comes with legs. H as a MIJ mute on the floor tom. Bass drum has a cymbal arm mount but no cymbal arm. I acquired this Gray 1956 Papst turntable motor years ago(described as working by the ebay seller) but have never tested it. These things are pretty near indestructible so I am sure it works just fine. The motor spins in its bearings freely and without noise. I acquired a Bosch 4uF/ 220v capacitor which to pair with the motor. I researched several websites detailing Rek-o-Kut turntable restorations. As they often used this exact motor. Consult those same sites to figure out how to wire the motor and capacitor to a power switch and power cord. The platter and motor/spindle assembly is from a Sony XS-60 turntable I parted out. Have no idea if the motor would work ... moreif hooked up. My thought was that the motor casing would make a nice weighted bearing for the entire spindle and the platter does spin nice and level and smooth! Telefunken V72 pair for DIY project
This is a very nice. And GREAT sounding pair of Telefunken V72 tube mic-pres. Both modules have the gain and output pots modification to give you excellent control of the signal. The edge connectors are there and it's already wired up to the IEC, fuse receptacle, and the power transformer so they can be run on 115V rather than 220V. Some shielded cable is included so essentially, all one would have to do to get these puppies working is hook up I/O connectors. There are also little screw-on indicators for gain, pads, etc. Of course, I would expect anyone interested in these would also mount them in a 2U case or maybe something in a nice hardwood frame. Anyway.these came out of a box that was mutilated by UPS. Fortunately the modules only suffered a couple of loose connections. Which I promptly soldered up. One of them had some questionable ... moretubes so I bought an NOS pair and installed them. Sounds really yummy at this point. These are guaranteed to be in working condition. Altec 1566A mic preamp/ DI input project. Started doing the Eddie Ciletti mod on this and haven't had the time to finish. A few caps may need to be replaced. So someone with a little more knowhow and time could pick up a great deal. All the parts are here and I've already added the 1/4" jack. Comes with the mic transformer, line transformer, both original GE 12ax7 tubes(working) new power caps(the big Mallory's) green rackmount faceplate and slip-on casing. 15095A line transformer(around $60 value) 4722 mic transformer(around $180 value) Asking $300 for the package, as the external components hold most the value. Rips or punctures in the sides of the cans, which often occurs with mechanical removal. The sides. Just under the rim do get scratched, but scratches disappear after you paint your cans. The lid/ top rims are perfectly entact. Which is often not the case with bit removal! There are some small aluminum burrs from the lid/ top removal inside the can rim edges. However. Most of these were already removed through a careful and slow proceedure. Still. You do have to be careful handling the cans during your project assembly. The cans have already been cleaned with mild high quality castile soap(DR BRONNER'S) and water. So there is absolutely no soap film. Before washing. The cans had NO SUGAR RESIDUE to contend with, just Plain Unflavored Seltzer Water. The bottoms have NOT been punctured. So you can choose what method and pattern you feel is appropriate.
