Loop for attaching button to clothing firmly on back of each button. No marks but suspect they are Victorian. Have other buttons from same period listed. We are listing today for your consideration a lovely Antique 19th Century Stoneware Saltglazed Cobalt Blue Flower Design Marked Peter Herrman Gallon Butter Churn Crock. This crock is in Excellent Condition with some minor chips to each handle. Minor staining, and some minor small manufacturing pock marks or fleabites. The crock measures 13 7/8" tall x 9" wide x 7 1/2" at the mouth x 5 7/8" the inside lip of the mouth x 7 3/4" the base and weighs approximately 10lb 14oz. The crock is marked with the circular impressed P. HERRMAN 2G mark and has a lovely cobalt blue flower or 3 leaf clover design on both sides as well as cobalt blue around both handles. Vintage European Glass Fishing Float / Buoy with Clover Embossed!
Great for decoration. Great for glass collectors-You are bidding on a vintage, antique, green glass fishing float with a diameter of around 5 inches, with a clover embossed on the seal button! As you can see in the photos. The clover is clearly visible, but faint on one side. I can’t tell if the clover has worn down over time. Or if the original embossing was faint on that side. This is a maker’s mark of some sort, though I am not certain of the origin of this float, except that it came from Europe. Some people think it came specifically from a German glasshouse, but I’m not 100% confident in that. The mark is really neat, but my favorite thing about this float is how it’s worn uniformly from the ocean. Notice how the glass isn’t sparkling clear? That’s because the float has been slowly worn over the course of many years at sea, a trait highly ... morevalued among collectors of“working” floats. Many times, floats only display partial wear(a scuff or two) The fact that this float is worn uniformly over the entire surface is unusual, and I’ve seen floats with this characteristic(with no mark at all! sell for hundreds of dollars in antiques stores. The other thing I love about this float is that it is free-blown. This means there are no mold seams, which is usually a characteristic of older floats, though I am not certain of this float’s age. Also, there are even a few tiny bubbles in the glass! This is known as a“working float” because it was actually used by European fishermen. I know this because I found it myself on a deserted beach in the Caribbean. You can see in the photos that the float bears the marks of hard use. Too: these scuffs and scratches tell a story about this float that no words can tell, and add great character to this float. In the mid-twentieth century. Metal and plastic floats began to replace these beautiful glass floats in Europe. My best guess is that this float was made and used sometime in the years between 1915– 1955. It is a light creamy white, and is very soft, and feels like springy cotton, almost like a jersey thread. It has an all over Valenciennes look and styling. This has a brown velvet spine and corners, but the back cover is gone and just the cardboard remains. Inside there are 12 pages, all of them with some degree of foxing and discoloration, and most with some sort of damage to the paper inserts where you put pictures.some are not too bad, some are a little worse than others. There is a rip to the bottom of the velvet on the spine, a few faint pencil marks on inside front page, and this does have a musty smell to it, but there is no visible mold at all. There are a few small cracks and small dents and one tiny hole to front cover, nothing too horrible at all, and there are some light surface scratches. This is a very seldom seen Julius Vom Hofe brass reel which is pre-patent and which has the clover-leaf logo trade mark. This is a somewhat small reel that measures approximately 2& 1/8" in diameter and approximately 1& 7/8" in width. Measured outside to outside. The foot does not appear to have been shortened but still shows a bit of damage. Maker's mark stamped on bottom Tiffany& Co. 13964 Makers 1937, Sterling Silver, 925-100, C. Mark used 1901-1907. 13964 is the pattern number, introduced in 1898 and 1937 was the order number. C is the period of the directorship of Charles T. Cook 1901-1907. The rim and foot of the tazza are beautifully decorated with designs of clover leaves and clover blossoms, realistically rendered. Up for auction is a fun vintage lipstick holder shaped like a four leaf clover and decorated with green roses. Maybe the perfect St. Patrick's Day gift. Hee hee. The gold toned holder is made to hold up to 5 lipsticks and measures 2-3/4 inches by 3 inches and 3/4 inch high. The roses are green enamel or paint on the metal holder, some of the enamel is chipped and there is some wear to the gold paint. Structurally this piece is sound with no damage other than the paint loss, gives it that shabby chic look.
