Antique Draper & Maynard CLUBS WOODEN HICKORY Club Arrow Spalding Pro Chrome
A lot of antique hickory shaft golf clubs. Complete with leather wrap handles and drop forged metal club heads. We have recently come into possession of a lot of 3 antique golf clubs. Each featuring a genuine hickory shaft and a chrome plated metal club head. Two the clubs are 5 irons by Ideal, while the third is listed as a putter by Spalding. The Spalding is identified as a Kro Flite Sweetspot iron. There are leather wrapped handles on all three of the clubs, and the handle tips are metal capped on both of the Ideal clubs(see photo) Early golf clubs were all made of wood. They were hand-crafted. Often by the players themselves, and had no standard shape or form. As the sport of golf developed, a standard set of clubs began to take shape, with different clubs being fashioned to perform different tasks and hit various types of shot. Later, ... moreas more malleable iron became widely used for shorter range clubs, an even wider variety of clubs became available. The Ideal putter measures 34 1/2 inches. While the Spalding and Ideal 5 irons are 36 1/2 and 37 3/4 inches, respectively. Together, the lot weighs 2 pounds, 9 ounces. Hickory was the dominant material for golf club shafts up until 1935. Until metal shafts became widespread. As such, we feel these clubs are vintage, and have the type of wear one would expect with items of this age. All three shafts seem to be in good order, without chips or cracks. The leather wrappings on all three have little wear, and are possibly replacements, albeit very professional ones. The chrome club heads show scrapes and oxidation, although this is certainly understandable with items that have seen athletic use. This lot of classic golf clubs are a great find for anyone looking to restore vintage golf clubs. Check out the HUGE selection of items in our eBay store. Antique Wooden Child's Fireside Chair 19th C Restored, Rare, Beech and Oak
This chair originates from Scotland and dates from 1850 or earlier. It has been used recently. The seat is hewn from a single plank of oak not elm. All other parts are beech. The restraining bar has been turned from new beech wood as this had been lost to time. One arm where the restraining bar fits is blocked off with old horn. This chair has been recently restored. Oiled and waxed, not stained. There are some marks commensurate with age and use. There is also an ancient repair involving two staples and this has been repaired again and is part of the character and history of this piece. An historic item. You will not find the same from them today. That I will sell in another listing Because I don't have the talent to do the repairs. It is 14 inches long. Not including the neck, I believe that makes it a full size violin. The back is one piece curly maple and beautifully carved with an angel flying over the top of a man playing the cello. Rare and hard to find another one like it for sale in any condition? The fingerboard and tail piece look to be ebony. Comes with a old wooden case that has a great inlay and some vernier loss. It needs a good cleaning to bring back its silver shine. You can see where a sticker was covering it where this spot is shiny silver. There is 1 quarter size dent in the center and about 9 other smaller ones about dime size. With the tarnishing it is hard to see most of them. But you can feel them with your hand. Antique carved wooden figure. Believed to be from the late 1800's. Its approximately 12 inches tall and the base is 5 1/4 inches in diameter. The figure sit s on a plaster base s urrounded by goats. It has gold cloth and holds a musical instrument that's al so carved out of wood. The anti que figure was kept in a sealed container for the past 30 + years. Up for sale a beautiful antique wooden piano stool made by Tonk-out of Chicago and New York. America. This is hard wood-may be oak or maple. This is in nice condition-the wooden seat is free of cracks, it may have been refinished I do not know I am not the original owner, we have simply used a good wood cleaner on it. The seat is adjustable, it has a screw type of hardware under the seat that simply turns right or left to raise& lower it. There are a few marks on the seat-as pictured. This also has wooden legs and a ball& claw design foot. The 5th& 6th pictures are more true to color on the feet-the last 2 pictures look darker than they actually are. The hardware piece under the seat is marked with Tork Chicago& New York. this is an exquisite very rare antique wooden ornate Russian icon painting frame stand. it has stunning design with 2 doors that open and close on a hinge to expose the painting that would be used in the frame. it opens from small knobs on the front that have nice ware from age and use. it sits on a very ornate heavily embossed 6 sided base and the frame is also extremely ornate with wonderful color and a gold gilt. it is extremely rare and had some use and ware to it. but in great shape for its age. it measures 13 1/2 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches wide. And the frame opening is 7 1/16 x 9 1/8 inches the base has a repair to the backside and some small crackling. and the actual frame has some small ware. Found Item! Nice Tray with a beautiful motif featuring a bouquet spread of pink roses and forget me nots. Motif. Appears to be a transfer but not 100% sure. Edges are carved straight lines along the long sides of tray. Handle sides feature thick carvings with diagonal"V's" Back has letters"WA" which I believe they have to hammer in metal letters into the wood to leave the imprint. Dainty wood tray yet rustic at the same time. Perfect for shabby chic or maybe country decor. Small white paint specks throughout, scratches, dings and so forth. Rare Antique Chinese Apothecary 5ft Shop Sign Dragons & Tree Wooden
Hello. This auction is for a rare and unusual Chinese wooden sign, we have been advised this is a shop sign, possibly an apothecary shop and it would have hung above the entrance. It is very large at 63 inches wide x 22 inches tall and an inch thick. It is wood and what seems metal coating although I have not worked out the type of finish it is, it seems metallic. It has lost some of its paintwork over the years. We would date this c1900 although we are not sure. It very well may be older. If anyone can translate the writing for us that would be much appreciated. The colour in the photograph is true in the first pics. Its a deep red/wine background with orange/gold raised detail. the last 3 shots have been faded by the flash, although they do show the detail.
