Here is an old classic-an American Optical voltage transformer that will power many microscope lights/illuminators/lamps. It is an AO Transformer Model 315 with secondary voltage output of 1.5 to 7.5 volts. Manufactured in the USA by the American Optical Company Scientific Instruments Division in Buffalo NY. The power cord for plugging into a standard AC outlet is 5 feet long. An additional electrical cord is included to power the illuminator which is to be connected to the transformer; this cord is equipped with the very hard-to-find plug that will fit this transformer-see photos.

The set came from my fathers optometric practice in Western Massachusetts. The black leather case is engraved and contains 156 lenses with a pull out wooden box. There are spherical concave. Cylindrical concave, spherical convex, auxiliaries and some odd pieces. There is a"lensometer" included. It does not have a crystal over it and although it works I'm sure its accuracy is questionable. Also included is an old Snellen eye chart. I see no damage to any of the lenses, just needs a good cleaning. Please note that I know nothing about optometry and the set is being sold as is. American Optical AO Spencer Stereo Dissecting Microscope in machine grey finish. Comes as pictured with rare and very hard-to-find stereo wide field 18X eyepieces catalog R747. The eyepieces are in exceptionally fine condition. This instrument is equipped with three objective lenses: 0.7X. 2X, and 6X. When in use with the 18X eyepieces, the total magnifications provided by this microscope are 12.6X, 36X, and 108X. There is a small chip in the glass stage which does not affect functionality; see photos. The photograph of the dime(4th photo in the series) was taken using a digital camera connected to this microscope and using the 0.7X objective lens. The frame of these goggles have no noticeable wear and are in great condition. The lenses are interchangeable. This is an American Optical(branded Reichert) EpiStar materials inspection microscope. It includes the EpiStar stand along with a trinocular observation tube. The Model 1860 Industrial Microscope stand has a very large yoke and is able to accommodate stages with up to 6 by 6 inches of travel. The stage is rigidly clamped to the microscope base and does not move during focusing. Instead. The nosepiece carrying the objectives is the only part that moves. The infinity corrected optics of the system allow moving the objectives relative to the rest of the stand without any loss in optical corrections. The stand has a special super-long-life 20w halogen lamp(life rated at 10.000 hours) that is situated at the back of the stand. A filter turret has four positions– one open, one diffusion disk, a daylight blue filter, and a strong green filter. A ... morefully adjustable field iris is situated just forward of the filter turret. The illumination train has a swing-out beam-splitter used for brightfield vertical illumination. When swung to one side using the lever on the right side of the microscope, the illumination flux is directed to an annular mirror just above the revolving nosepiece. The nosepiece will accommodate five objectives using RMS threads. The continuously regulating transformer is built into the base of the stand. The stand includes a trinocular microscope tube. Type 1103. This tube is a Seidentoph arrangement so tube length remains constant no matter what the setting of the interpupillary distance. A lever switches the image between the binocular and the phototube port. It is also possible to mount an optional image erection tube(type 3002) between the microscope stand and the observation tube. This tube is not included but is available as a separate item on our website. The stand and tube are in excellent condition and fully functional. This phoropter is in excellent condition! Our office has used it for several years and has found it to be a remarkably reliable and accurate instrument fit for the profession's finest. Do not fall in to the trap of Chinese cr_p: this is the Gold Standard and not a cheap imitation. A durable industry workhorse. The optometrist in our office has just retired. WWII U.S. Army Air Corp Aviator Goggles W/Case American Optical Co.
Welcome! This auction is for an original authentic pair of of American Optical Aviator Goggles. These were used throughout WWII for a variety of pilot applications. As you might know these aviation goggles were made by the American Optical company in the USA with the utmost of quality. They were made by people that knew full well that they would be immediately shipped out for use of our brave American pilots in Europe and Asia. You can imagine the level of detail and quality that was applied to these goggles in that setting. Considering their age. These are in remarkable condition. The strap is still quite elastic on both sides and the clasps to loosen/tighten it as well as connect it to the lens part are quite intact. The eyecup material is fully intact. The lenses themselves are in perfect condition with no scratches. Cracks or pitting. ... moreThey are both inscribed with the"AO" logo on the outside corners indicating that they are both original. There is a small letter"C" beneath the logo. The only way to improve them is to simply clean them. I have not done so because I want YOU to make the decision on how much patina to leave on this piece of history. There is an assembly between the lenses to adjust the width of the nose bridge. This part tightens well and is fully functioning with the"AO" inscription intact. As you can see in some of the pictures, there is a stitching around the edge of the lens frame that adjoins to the eye cup. These stitches are in excellent condition. The lens frame has light patina that could very easily be removed for a perfect shining finish. Again, I have left this decision to you. The goggles do come with their original American Optical"Coffin Case" The case also has patina which could be largely polished away if desired. However. The case is fully functional and in great condition overall. Inside of the top lid to the case is an inscription which bears the name of the original owner, Roy Arvid Kohlema. This adds an interesting and valuable aspect
