This is the ideal microscopy system for coin collectors. Gemologists, jewelry makers and collectors, biologists and microbiologists, forensic handwriting and document analysts, etc.anyone with an occasional or recurrent need to compare two objects. With the capability to photograph examination results. The entire system is clean and in excellent cosmetic condition. The optics are clear and sharp. By adjusting a 3-position slide on the AO Scientific Instruments Comparison Head. Each of the two microscope objective lenses may be controlled so that each object may be viewed individually, or the image of one object may be superimposed over the other for comparison ... morepurposes. The Comparison Head is equipped with two objective lens systems. Each individually adjustable to compensate for specimens of differing thicknesses while simultaneously maintaining sharp focus of both objects. Two microscope illuminators with colored red and green filters are provided which allow independent illumination of each object. But I have never seen one quite like this. I am not sure how old it is, but I would consider it vintage. There is no model number present. It is in fair overall physical condition. With a few small scuffs and marks here and there. The optics look to be in fair condition, with no cracks. However, there are some dust particles present in the eyepieces. I've shown a close up in the photographs. The paint is rubbed off in places and some rust has formed on the body from age. All of the parts move smoothly. There are several ways to adjust this microscope: It moves vertically. The head tilts forward and back and the head can be moved horizontally as well. There is no power cord so i am unsure of the functioning of this slit lamp. it looks like everything would be good but i cant be sure. Everything moves smoothly mechanically. It has some minor cosmetic wear but nothing terrible. Pretty typical type of wear around edges. Some light oxidation, etc. Not sure how good the lenses are or anything along those lines. The tonometer is missing the longer piece that comes out from the top. Selling it"As Is" due to the missing cord and not knowing how well it works. The long amber color stem covers and nosepieces are excellent The lenses have been taken care of– looking at them with a magnifying glass) if one catches the light just right there is some minute fine polishing scuffs. The scuffs are extremely hard to see with the naked eye. The frame and eyepiece mounts are straight– they show no misalignment or bends. Overall they I would rate these are 95%+ Spec’s– 5.5” wide. This was my college microscope last used approximately 21 years ago. It has been in storage in my attic since then. The Microscope works but could use a good cleaning. The American Optical light source still works as well as can be seen in the pictures. There is no mount for the light on the transformer base- the light source fits directly onto the microscope. I'm also including the accessories that you see in the pictures: the Sepor sorter and approximately 100 aluminum slide trays. If you are curious. I used this microscope to pick benthic foraminifera out of core samples which I then transferred to slides. This sale is as is. Estate, Fully marked American Optical Full-Vue# 4 almost round eyeglass frames in good vintage condition. see above) The tiny beaded design frames are shiny silver(tone) and do not show any corrosion. I do not know metal content of frames as they are not marked as such.They are very old( probably early 20s) based on hinge earpieces and spring action earhooks. Very lightweight. You would need an adjustment on the earpieces if you intend to use them. Lens across app 1& 1/4 Hinge to hinge: 4 in. Ear hinge to ear hook 4 in. Original nosepads and period case with some wear.

American Optical HGU-4/P aviator sunglasses 12K GF w/ original 1973 dated case!
These sunglasses are the classic 12K GF model everyone is looking for. Worn by US pilots during the Vietnam war. And many TV/movie characters(Don Draper in Mad Men, Colton Rhodes in Justified, to name a few) They are in rough condition. After having been stored for 40 years. They cannot be worn straight out of the box and would require a serious overhaul if you want to go for that Don Draper impression this summer! In my opinion this is more of a collector's item, for aviation/Vietnam war collectors who cannot afford the prices usually fetched by these frames on the vintage market. They would look great displayed on a mannequin. When I got these glasses they were quite filthy. I cleaned most of it but did not go too far as I did not want to damage them further. The frame itself is slightly bent, see picture taken from top. The lenses ... morehave light scratching from handling, nothing serious. The arms are a bit wobbly, but the screws appear to be stuck so I did not try to tighten them. The main problem is with the plastic nose pads and temple ear pieces, which seem to have litterally rotten. If you can replace these parts and straighten the frame I guess they would be wearable. They come with the original American Optical military government issued case which has a white plastic interior liner the outer top flap of the case bears the following contract number: DSA-120-73-A-3249. Indicating a contract awarded during FY73(7/1/72 to 6/30/73) Bridge marked AO 12K GF. Arms marked 5 1/2 AO AMERICAN OPTICAL 12K GF. Arm length 140mm. RARE WWII Era American Optical Aviator Pilot Sunglasses Ful-Vue12K GF VG Frame
This is a pair of collectible 1940s Era Polarized American Optical Ful-Vue Aviator Pilot Sunglasses 12K GF V Good Shiny Frames with original glass green lens. They are fully marked on earpiece with American Optical name and Logo plus: 5 3/4 and 12K GF. Under the pearlized bakelite(Lucite) nose bridge is marked A/O Ful-Vue 1/10 12 K GF. The frames are in very good vintage condition. Probably as shiny as when purchased. They have a screw that does not match other on hinge. That is all I saw. The nosepieces and bakelite bridge are in very good condition. However. The old bonded reflective polarized material on the back of the glass lens has deteriorated and I could not get the remainder off. I even tried heat from the hairdryer. You might know how. The frames would make excellent sunglasses! I have not seen another early polarized pair of AO ... moresunglasses like these. Source below from the History of AO at American Optical History section: Sunglasses. Sunwear and Goggles As early as 1940. AO offered prescription-polarized sunglasses to the market. They were(and are) especially helpful on water and snow in the reduction of glare from the reflective surfaces.
