Tektronix 422 Oscilloscope- Vintage- Powers On and Operates I am not an expert on this type of equipment. And my retired Air Force engineer has left the area. So, I tinkered with this to the best of my ability(which is limited) and here is what I can tell you. It has its power cord and it powers up. I was able to get light across the screen: The Intensity. Focus, Astigmatism, and Scale Illum functions are working. Both Vertical and Horizontal functions operated on the line or lines that I was able to bring up. The Channel knob functions: one line for one channel and two for two channels. The Variable Calibration and Time/DIV knobs were also functioning. The only problem that I kept having was maintaining the lines with HORIZ ATTEN OR LEVEL knob that runs from AUTO to FREE RUN. I had to adjust this knob very gingerly in order to get a line ... moreread on the screen. As far as testing the instrument itself or calibrating it– this is definitely out of my area of expertise. Where is that retired Air Force engineer when I need him? I am certain that if you are looking at this seriously that you already know how to mess with this unit and calibrate it as well. This Oscilloscope comes with its power cord(old school) one probe in picture and the notebook that contains the entire instruction manual. There are two manuals in this notebook. One is to the Oscilloscope and the other one is for the power supply unit that is attached to the Oscilloscope. If you have any other questions about this unit feel free to contact us. With the understanding that we do not know a lot about the testing of this type of equipment. Here is the Tektronix 422 dual channel 15 MHz analog oscilloscope as located at a local sale and confirmed to be in fine working condition. While it's been about 50 years since my last use of these. My testing convinces me that it works fine. The photos show use of the two probes, a P6105 and a P-6106 probe, each 10X, 10 megohm and each hooked to the 2 volt calibration port. Sweep, trigger, positioning, and voltage ranges work as expected. The display focus, astigmatism, and scale illumination work, and the intensity has great range suggesting a CRT with lots of remaining life. The case has seen a lot of life. But the handle is strong and the case has no corrosion or dents, but an old sticker is on the top, and generally all is in need of a cleanup. The front storage compartment has lost its cushioning but is still useful and contains, ... morein addition to the two probes, a P-6028 probe and a few additional items. A Google search turned up the a manual.pdf available at no cost. I'll pass along the link to the winner. This is a fine analog scope. Still useful for many applications. Buttons, dials and switches move well and functioned properly during testing. Comes with it's original user manual, P6006 probe, P6028 probe, one generic probe and AC cable. All of the probes have their associated screw on tips. There are 2 serial numbers on the bottom tags, 28669& 100013. I believe it is Made in the USA- Overall nice shape with wear from use& age. Very dirty from sitting in a garage for years, never wet. Sold untested and as-is with no returns. Faceplate is very nice. Unit probably dates from the late 1940's to the early 1950's. I have no idea if it works or what it does. Sold As-Shown. No apparent physical damage except for the items mentioned previously. I got this from an estate along with many other pieces of antique tube ham radio and test ... moreequipment. Tektronix 422 Oscilloscope in excellent working and cosmetic condition. Serial number 22435 means it is in the"above 20.000" production and so it has the FET input instead of the nuvistors. An original Tektronix manual for the"above 20.000" series is included. It is however not the manual that was shipped with this particular unit. The Tektronix Type 422 Oscilloscope is a solid-state portable instrument that combines small size and light weight with the ability to make precision waveform measurements.The instrument is mechanically designed to withstand the shock. Vibration and other extremes of environment associated with portability. This is specified as a 15 MHz bandwidth scope. Bandwidth is defined as the frequency where the vertical sensitivity has not dropped more than 3db. However. This unit works up to at least ... more40 MHz using the x10 magnification, and this ability to see above the specified bandwidth is useful if you are looking at waveform rather than measuring the voltage. It is a very useful. Handy little scope! Here's what the first seven pictures show: 1- Sine wave at 20 MHz on Ch 2 2- Channel 1 pulse. Ch 2 sine wave both at 500 KHz 3- Ch 1 CAL from internal calibrator 4- Ch 2 CAL from internal calibrator 5- Pulse at 8 MHz on Ch 1 6- Ch 2 sine wave at 40 MHz with x10 magnifier on 7- Ch 1 pulse and Ch 2 sine wave both at 10 MHz using ALT function What is included: the scope• the front cover with working inner cover and latch• the manual Everything else on my cluttered workbench that may be in the pictures is NOT INCLUDED!
