Hull pottery one-of-a-kind poodle dog head vase planter Is either an experimental. Sample or a lunch hour piece done by an employee at the factory. All others I have seen are in a glossy finish or in a matt color like pink. This example has a matt white finish, with black eyes and nose, with a light blue shading on the eyes. There were also items called Trials. Trying out a new color/glaze combination ~ perhaps this could be one of them too. It is marked with the standard Hull USA 38, the letter C inside a circle& the’55 for the year. But then there are more hand-incised markings; from the last letter L in the word Hull, the marking continues with either the letter M or a sideways letter E. Extremely RARE Antique Salesman Sample Stepback Cupboard w Minerva Head
A wonderful and extremely rare Victorian Renaissance salesman sample of a Minerva head stepback cupboard. Out of the 1870's. The Minerva head is in the center of the removable crown. It has two glass doors with fancy molding and a unique brass Victorian latch on the right door that has an inside"thumb" latch that turns to hold the door closed, as pictured. The bottom part of the cupboard has two paneled or"blind" doors, with a unique knob and same type latch on the right door, as the top. There is a hook underneath the top shelf that hooks into the eyelet on the inside of the left door. The same type is on the bottom left shelf and door. The hinges on all four doors have a pin that can be removed from the top to remove the doors. The top shelves are removable and have a plate rack on both shelves, as pictured with ... morethe four blue willow plates. There is ornate trim around the front of the doors and all around the sides of the cupboard. The cupboard is made of oak wood except for the back and the shelves, which is made of a secondary wood. The front panels on the door have very nice wood grain. The cupboard is in good antique condition, with normal antique wear. There is staining on the inside and back, as pictured. The backside has some water marks near the bottom. The paper that sealed the back panels have come off through the years. you can see this in the picture that shows the back. This is the original finish and I will leave the patina preference to the buyer. Please view all pictures. There are a couple close splits in the front door panels. There is some scuff marks in the finish, and a few small nicks, also pictured. Please do not expect an antique item to be perfect, as it has been around for many years and shows wear, as pictured. It has wonderful scalloped edges around the front and sides of the bottom. The cupboard stands 37 1/2" from the center of the crown to the bottom. The crown is removable. Vtg Salesman Sample Driver Probably Macgregor Nice Head Early Painted Shaft
From a recent local estate sale. One very nice, probably 1930's, salesman sample metal shaft wood driver. Measures 19.5" long total, 5" leather grip, head 2 1/8" wide. Good condition, coated whipping still intact, shaft shows paint loss, scuffs to paint/varnish on head and plate, minor loss to leather at top on grip and no cap. I found no marks and don't play golf, so no idea of maker, but someone with a good working knowledge of old clubs will probably know. Last two photos are of another old wood shaft salesman sample that does have mark to blade if anyone recognizes the maker feel free to share. The drum has a good head, a balanced sound with deep old-school bass(think Djamchid Chemirani in the‘70s) and a really unusual shape- in 20 years of playing tombak, I’ve never seen another quite like it, with a very heavy, rounded base. Fantastically preserved salesman sample of"always demand indian head brand boat paddles& oars. Successors to J H Alexander& Son reference Memphis 4 Tennessee. Does have dry split from end to right underneath red indian head logo. Oar is made of lightweight spruce. Vintage red handle paint remains. Oar is just over 65 inches long and is uncut. 1976 SUPERSIZE SUPERSTAR BARBIE Prototype HEAD Pink skin, no dots in eyes Sample
This auction is for a Mattel 1976 1977 Prototype/Sample Supersize Barbie HEAD- Near Mint/Mint Condition! I purchased this unusual item from a doll dealer who has been selling dolls from a former Mattel employee. As you can see from the 1st comparison photo. This head is lighter/Pinker than the Mass-produced Supersize Barbie who has a very dark tan. This special head also lacks the white dots in the black part of the eye! The eye color and eye shadow are also a darker, medium blue(the common version has light blue eyes/shadow) This prototype head looks more like a supersize version of the little 12" Superstar Barbie. Collectors have wondered over the years why Mattel made the Supersize dolls with such a dark tan, when most of the small Barbies had a light Pink complexion. Apparently Mattel was considering different skintones when designing ... morethis doll. This prototype head could be OOAK, as I have never seen one of these before. The head is basically in Mint condition, with the string around her hair, but some of the hairs have slipped out from under the string. Her left earring is Missing. Please look at the 1st photo carefully to see all the differences between this head and the mass produced doll on the right. This auction is ONLY for the head. Great condition in present condition but fabric body was restored and arms hands remade around 50 years ago with old handmade clothing. Measures 22 inches tall. Nice size for an old milliners sample.
