This powerful oscilloscope has a 1 GHz bandwidth(350 ps rise time. With 10 ps time resolution) and a nice color screen. Has two channels, and two additional exte rnal trigger inputs. It has many useful features. Such as variable/infinite persistence, sophisticated logic triggering modes, lots of automatic measurements, and the ability to display one channel versus the other. It also has a modular input/probe preamplifier scheme that uses plugins for different applications such as high-speed active probes. This one comes with 3 general-purpose 50 ohm input pods. As with all HP instruments, the use/repairs manuals for this can be downloaded free from Agilent or from other websites. I have checked out the functions of the scope pretty extensively. And everything works well. It has not been calibrated for a while but does not seem to be way off ... morefor anything I would use it for. It passes all of its self tests(see photos) The colors came out a bit flat in the photos(the blue trace looks very similar to the gray background grid) but in person they are bright and vibrant. You can customize the colors infinitely for all aspects of the display- could have a white background or something if you want. This HP 54100D works just fine and passes all self tests. I was using it to develop custom electronics equipment for my shop when the video started jumping around and the video data got funny shaped. See the corners of the pictures. I am too busy and do not have a spare video module to swap in at this time. I have a second same type unit to use so this one is likely an easy repair for some one with a video module. This scope was always reliable in every way except the video is going out.
