This is a good instrument to diagnose electrical circuit/ experiment problems or to locate a bad component in an amplifier. Stereo, radio, etc since you can actually"see" how a particular component is working, not working well, or simply not working at all. And it helps to be able to see two channels at once so you can compare signals, such as input and output. For example in an amplifier circuit you can look at the input and work backwards from the output to see where the fault lies. Also two signals are essential for comparing stereo signals or for comparing digital with the clock/ trigger signal. The Hitachi V212 Operation Manual contains complete operator instructions including how to set it up for the first time(page 15 of the manual) and how to obtain displays for AC and DC voltage. Frequency, time difference, and rise and fall times. The two independent channels may be used for X-Y measurements. Two channel measurements at different frequencies may be also measured. Please see pictures taken from the Operation Manual for more information regarding the capabilities and controls. The photographs of the scope are recent and both channels work. This scope was hardly ever used- I used it as a student. Dimensions are approximately 12.4 x 5.2 x 14.8 inches. This is a great instrument for any repair technician. Real time bandwidth is important when a trigger event occurs only once as it might in an error pulse or a glitch. I was product support engineer on this product before I retired. No probes or other accessories are included, but the Tektronix scope cart in the photos is available for an additional $50 plus additional shipping costs(cart will be dismantled and packaged with the scope for lowest possible shipping cost-please contact me if you are interested in acquiring the cart with the scope) This is a particularly fine oscilloscope, in excellent condition and super clean inside and out. Exterior has normal expected minor scratches and wear, but front panel is pristine. Unit is formerly military equipment and has a clear plastic screen rather than the usual blue Tektronix filter screen-the CRT display is not"naked" and does ... moreindeed have a proper plastic screen in front of it. I have replaced the 2 non-volatile RAM chips(Dallas#DS1235YW) with new chips. With fresh built-in lithium batteries, and installed DIP chip sockets in place of the old, dead-battery, soldered-in NVRAM chips. The unit passes its power on self-check tests perfectly, and also holds its calibration perfectly. An excellent early-90's measurement instrument for a fraction of its original price! Unfortunately. I do not know this unit's last calibration date, but it compares accurately with readings taken with my calibrated scope, and I offer no further guarantee of accuracy. Looks to be missing the fine adjustment? red knob on the Channel 1 volts/div knob(pic 4-5) I plugged the unit in and pushe d the red POWER button. Which turns on the unit. Finally kind of figured out ho w to get a trace/dual trace. I just keep punching buttons and turning knobs until I figure it out! I moved the traces le ft. Right, up, and down. I increased/decreased the intensity of the traces. I also focused the beams so it was pretty sharp. Has a handle that can be positioned at different angles, works fine. It's a little different than most, you have to pull up on the handle to advance it to the next position. Most you have buttons that you push.
