I bought this scope(S/N 3051A03399) in an eBay auction as a parts/repair unit. I restored it to good physical and operating condition by setting line power to 115V. Installing three missing panel buttons, replacing bad CHAN 1 attenuator, installing missing top panel trim strip, replacing bad trigger qualifier board, and performing a front-panel calibration. I also verified proper HP-IB output operation by making a screen print to an HP thermal printer. The scope is in sound physical condition with typical scuffs and wear marks, but is missing its bottom and rear feet and input connector covers. The first screen picture shows a pulse pattern. The same pattern delayed by a 4-foot cable, the sum of the two inputs, and the integral of the first input. Besides the scope, the auction includes an IEC line cord. HP 54111D 500MHz 1GS/s Digital Oscilloscope, partially working
Partially working oscilloscope. Great for someone who doesn't mind a little tinkering. The scope has(likely) dirty attenuator contacts. Just search"54111D repair" There is a nice tutorial on how to do it. Both channel display a signal, most of the time. See the first picture, sometimes the front-end switches don't make good contact. Usually just switching the vertical sensitivity back and forth will fix the problem. I haven't fully tested the unit. But I'm pretty sure it works. The calibrator pin is bent, but the signal is still good. Trig 1 input BNC is damaged. Please email me with any questions. Very fast oscilloscope for its time. Channel one doesn't work on any range settings. Channel two seems to be fine. Probe calibration output is bent. But still working.I haven't fully tested the unit. This has been taking up too much space in my office and I'm looking at getting a smaller form factor o-scope. I've used it for about six years. Runs well, have had no problems, and it passes its self-test. I'm not sure how well you can see in the pictures. This thing is pretty massive. It weighs over 60 pounds and is about two feet deep. Just keep that in mind if you want to bid. Also, I am*not* including any cables other than the power cable. I've looked around eBay and see this thing for nearly $400 just for parts. And over $1,000 for one in working condition. I'm trying to make sure I cover shipping costs and eBay fees, but mostly I just want my desk space back so I can cover it with more projects. Please look at the photos. The unit powers-up, the display is bright& clear. It appears to respond well to manipulation of the control panel. I connected the unit to a function generator(not included) with the coaxial cables shown(also not included) and the unit responded to the input signals, as shown, although this is the only testing that has been performed.
