You know I can put all the specs and details here about this Precision Level. But I bet you already know what this fine instrument does and is used for. So I'll spare us all the time and effort by passing on all that. However, I will explain why I am selling it and the condition of this tool. I purchased this instrument to use at work. It maybe a little too precise for what I need, so if I can sell it, I may down size. It is in operational condition and just Calibrated. It is ready to be used and fully functional. There is some normal wear and a few scratches on it. It does not come with a tripod. It has a hard shell case, not the original one but will definitely protect it from the elements. It is in good shape, clear lens, coincidence bubble is clear and clean. The bulls eye bubble looks fine, the mirror has a bit of spotting but still ... moremore than clear enough to use. I'm going to be honest, I bought this instrument not knowing if it could even be used on a job. It is a gamble when getting something used. Fortunately when I took it to be checked out, it was able to be Calibrated with no issues. I am selling it as is, but it can be used on the job today.

This item is a vintage Keuffel and Esser company of New York. 47239 Survey Level. It includes the original wooden tripod, a level measure stick, and the original wooden carry box. The box is damaged. I am not familiar with this type equipment, so all I can evaluate is the outer condition of the three items. The damages to the carry box is serious, the lid is broken off at the hinges and there is a missing section(again of the lid itself) The tripod is fine, as well as the level itself, showing only surface rust. Vintage Keuffel & Esser Co Aneroid Barometer / Altimeter w/ Leather Case ERIE RR
Keuffel& Esser Co Aneroid Barometer/ Altimeter Definitely not my field of expertise but I will tell you what I know and what I have found from researching online. The marking on the barometer are as follows: Keuffel& Esser N.Y. Surveying Aneroid Compensated Made in England The marking show that the barometer ranges from 18 to 31 inches and the altimeter ranges from 0 to 14.800 ft. The barometer measures 3" across(diameter) and is 1 3/16" thick. I tested the barometer(sealed bag trick) and the needle move with very little pressure. I've noticed that the needle has been moving daily regardless just with the changes that happen on a daily basis with the barometric pressure. The glass cover can be turned clockwise or counter clockwise but doesn't pull free of the unit. The mini magnifiying glass is on a separate brass ... morering and moves around the barometer as well but can be moved without the glass cover moving. The entire barometer looks to be made of brass and has a lacquer coating over the entire piece. You can see the brass showing through on the edges and where the engraving was done. Over all the condition of this piece is great. Look at the pictures. They speak for themselves. I have to assume this one was. At one time, used on a train maybe to judge grades or altitudes while traveling. The engraving of ERIE R.R. C1 was a dead giveaway. Erie Railroad) I found the below while doing some research: With this instrument. The user could measure atmospheric pressure(to forecast the weather) and this barometer was made in England for the US market. It's really interesting to see Keuffel& Esser marked on the dial- this firm is considered one of America's best scientific instrument makers. It was founded in 1867 by William J. D. Keuffel& Herman Esser and was operated from 79 Nassau Street in Manhattan, New York, NY. Scientific instruments like barometers from this firm are few and far between! This auction includes 13 drafting tools and the two cases you see pictured. The tools show normal use with wear on the graphite and some light scratches. The cases are cracking at the corners on the exterior. This kit includes a spacer. 7 calipers, 2 compasses, a pencil lead container, and two other assorted drafing tools. This lookes like an older kit and bears no model numbers on the tools or the kit. The larger kit measures 10.75" by 5.5" when closed up. The smaller case is 9" in length and a little over 1" wide. This slide rule is# 4092 and it does have some condition issues commensurate with its age of over 100 years. The glass from the slide is missing on one side and damaged on the other. The set looks complete- however. I am not overly familiar with drafting tools, so please look at the pictures and ask any questions you may have! The only issues that I have noticed are the tube of lettering ink rattles when I shake it. Which indicates that it has dried up inside. After all these years, that would be expected! The other thing I noticed is there is one extra hole where the little tips are stored- but the extra may be mounted to the scriber? There are 11 lettering templates ranging in size from 80CL- 350CL. Rare Vtg KEUFFEL & ESSER CO., Surveying Transit, wooden stand & leveling rod
There is no marking on this transit but we found a couple of others just like this one on EBAY and they stated that they were Antique Brass Keuffel& Essex surveryor transit. What is nice about this transit is it comes with the origianal wooden tripod and a wooden 8' foot grade leveling rod. Transit lenses are clear and seem to work/look just fine. The wooden box that holds the transit is very neat. Too. If you look closely in the pictures you will see that there is a blumb-bob in the front right corner of the box A very nice set.
