Stamped on the stapler is"Use Only Genuime Arrow P-22 Staples 1/4" or 5/16" The stapler operates smoothly. No staples are available for the stapler. Patent numbers 2205709(dated June 25, 1940) and 2312142(dated Feb. 23, 1943)are stamped on the tool. VINTAGE BATES MODEL B WIRE DESK STAPLER w BRASS WIRE ROLL & WORKS!
This auction is for a vintage 1930's BATES brass wire stapler. This stapler has a roll of brass wire at the back which is fed through and when the knob is pressed it bends the wire to make a staple. The bottom is marked JAN 15 1935 and was manufactured by BATES STAPLER. Orange, N.J. U.S.A. and has a metal plate which provides the operating instructions. It is metal and painted army green with a black knob which has BATES impressed on it. It measures 8" long x 2 1/2" wide x 4 1/4" high and is in very good working condition. Cosmetically it is also in good condition although it does have wear to the green paint. An unusual and early desktop stapler that displays well!
