Trout flies plates in an envelope portfolio presented by Family Circle in the mid 1960's. The plates are photographs from paintings by G.Don Ray. There are 20 plates in total with 237 photographs and each plate measures 6.5 inches by 9 inches. 6 plates of wet flies with 12 on each plate, 4 plates of dry flies with 10 on each plate, 4 plates of fly tying materials, 3 plates of streamers, 2 plates of nymphs, 1 plate of bucktails, large fold out list of the 84 fly tying materials that are photographed on 4 fly tying materials plates. These materials are all numbered and cross referenced for easy reference from the list to the plates. As you gather these materials you could store them by the same numbers in small draws to help keep your work organized. The first 2 photos below this description were scanned on my scanner to show you how nice ... morethese plates are. pac scan" is not on the plates only on my photo for listing. After that are some photos of the group taken with my ipad and some with my camera. There is some age toning on the back of one of the wet flies plates from being on the bottom against this envelope all these years. The envelope is not hig quality paper but the plates are on heavier glossy paper stock. There is some very small spots of the age toning on the edge of the fronts on 3 or 4 in the white border area. The envelope has wear on the edges and small tears at each end of the flap fold. These plates would be great to frame OR if you are a fly tyer or learning to tie flies. It would be great to put them in mylar or acid free pages in a notebook for protection and easy access. You can buy these pages right at office supply stores. Here is a true survivor from the vault! no. Not Jack Benny's vault) This is an original 1938 Cadillac V-16 10-plate portfolio of models, in the original pouch. Let's begin with the things that may or may not detract from the value of this item, depending upon your point of view. There are ten plates, printed on both sides. All are in very good shape save for a slight moisture mark at top of the convertible coupe plate, and there are a couple of pinholes where someone must have mounted this at some point. Upon opening the folder, there is an embossed silver"V" the outline of which can be seen on the presentation page. If you view this rare item as an artifact of the worlds' greatest industry, as I do, then these minor imperfections can and should be overlooked.
