Back when furniture was made to last. This chair seems to have had quite a busy life. So much so that the caned seat wore out. It has been recaned and has a wonderful patina that has been preserved and not refinished. This chair is extremely comfortable and solid. The recaned seat will last for years to come. Derby. Knowlton and Co. was established in Gardner in 1863. Several years later, Mr. Derby bought out his business partners. In 1880 he established P. Derby& Co. By 1897 P. Derby& Co. was listed as the second-largest chair manufacturer in the country. It had branches in Boston, New York and Chicago. The company specialized in cane furniture, but also made traditional wooden tables and chairs. It went out of business in 1935. This chair still has the label on the underside of the seat. The fan does also tilt up and down. There is surface rust. Scuffs, and scratches. On the back neck, the metal looks a little bent where the head tilts back but these things do not affect the use of it. This is still a good. Vintage fan. I am not sure if the on/off switch has been replaced. But there is only one speed even though the switch goes from off- off- on- on and then back off. So. Vintage Patent "1905" Heavy Glass Office Desk Stamp/Envelope Moistener "Unusual"
Up for bid is a neat old office desk item for moistening envelopes or stamps. It was patented Jan. 31.05 making it over 109 years old.The glass is really heavy. It would make a nice paperweight or at the least a nice desk top conversation piece. The metal on top has some light tarnishing and it still has the wooden wheel with the cloth strip around it.It is 4" long by 2 1/2" wide and is 2" high. Vintage 1960s 70s Green Executive Office Desk Chair Retro Rolling Chic Tall Back
The following auction is for a vintage Olive Green Executive Office Chair. It is used and shows some wear. I don't see a manufacturer name anywhere on it.So I am not sure who made it. The chair is a swivel chair on 4 legs with casters. The chair has some stains on the back and the seat. There is one on the back.But towards the cushion,where you sit.It looks like a coffee stain ran down it. I don't know if this will come out. There are also a few light marks and stains on the seat and back. There is There are no rips or tears on the back of the seat or the cushion. There is a worn spot in the bottom corner of the front cushion. Its not really a tear,it just looks like it is worn in that corner. We are pleased to offer this wonderful antique desk. The desk is constructed of steel and has heavy brass(does not accept a magnet) around the bottom of the legs. The desk was produced by Art Metal and manufactured in Jamestown. NY. It is dated 11/26 in both the drawer and on the inner section of the desk. The desk retains the original, chocolate brown paint on the sides, front and the back. The top has no paint(maybe originally designed this way) and is a silver, steel color. Each exterior side of the desk features a large, stenciled, Art Deco styled medallion. I think this was probably added to the desk at some point and do not think it is original. It does give the desk a unique look, however. The desk was made for reading or writing. It does not have side storage but does have a large center drawer. A partial foil manufacturer's sticker ... moreis located inside the desk. In their most prosperous years, Art Metal won exclusive rights to furnish public libraries, offices, etc. with their noncombustible furniture. They made excellent quality pieces and this desk is a fine representation of their quality. The desk is in very good structural condition. It is heavy and quite sturdy. The finish has a general aged appearance(which I happen to like) The paint has peeled in areas and the top has some aged, rusted spots. If you don't care for the aged character, you could strip and refinish pretty easily. The desk measures 28" tall. It is"Stickley" styled with a clean, simple design. The desk top is compromised of 2 planks which provide a generous work space. It has a single center drawer for pens, pencils, etc. Each side features two, open shelves for paper/file storage. The legs are simple and slightly supercede the height of the table top. The desk has wooden buttons which cover the screws/nails. It is in very good antique condition. There is a very slight bow on the top which is neither severe or distracting. I am selling a walnut desk and hammered leather chair. The desk was purchased from FurnitureLand South and at the time of purchase I was told that it is walnut. Handmade in India. The hardware on the desk is quite nice and seems to be hand cobbled as well. The drawers have dovetail joints- very good craftsmanship. The desk also features a keyboard drawer.The dimensions for the desk are: 67" long, 31" tall, 32" deep. Along with the desk I am also including a hammered leather chair. The chair is a Bradington Young and I think it goes quite well with the desk. The chair has adjustable height. Swivel, and ability to lock it out or put in recline mode. The chair has been used and has signs of wear(scuffs on the wooden swivel, scuffs on the arm, leather, etc) and there is some paint that stained on the top of the back of the leather ... moreon the chair.
