This original rare souvenir is an aluminum notebook or autograph book from the 1904 St. Louis Exposition that was held to celebrate the Louisiana Purchase. This 1904 World Fair souvenir measures approximately 2 inches x 3-3/4 inches. There are 29 pages in this aluminum notebook. The front cover has an etched eagle and a red and blue flag with the words"Worlds Fair St. Louis 1904" towards the bottom. This 1904 World's Fair souvenir belonged to my husband's grandmother who was born in 1877. Her name and address are written in pencil on the inside back cover. Condition: Very good condition. Especially considering its age. The pages are not torn and are not written on, but they have discolored somewhat over the years. I'm not sure if 1976 is considered antique actually. This notepad/book is really cool! Still has a mini calendar inside from 1978. The notebook in whole. Is in excellent condition, undamaged. Outside is a hardcover, padded. Is still full of paper, long sheets of 8" perforated halfway down. 5" across. It's about a half inch thick, first couple of pages are pressed in where they press against the staples on the calendar. Unsure of value, I just can't bring myself to throw it out. I purchased this lady at an auction today. She was made by Miller Studios. Inc in 1954. She is of chalk ware and is a wall mount note pad, I believe she has the original pad as when I tried to remove it, it seemed to be glued on. A pencil serves as her broom handle. This is Black Afro American memorabilia. She is a black Mammy. the main damage is a chip in the lower back which is shown in picture 5. There is some loss to paint or glaze in spots all over( neck, edges of notepad, shoes and arm) Please study the pictures well. Has original wire hook for mounting in the back. I think a pretty rare collectible. She weighs 1-2 pounds and is 9" X 5 1/2" I purchased a few other pieces of Black Mammy memorabilia today and hope to list it quickly.
