VINTAGE FIREFIGHTERS FIRE DEPARTMENT TRUMPET/ MEGAPHONE...SOLID Copper? Brass?
Up for auction is this solid metal trumpet megaphone. I believe the metal is copper. But with the patina, it is very difficult to tell. It might be brass. I have no way of determining which material without altering the surface. The trumpet stands approximately 14 ¾ inches high and is approximately 1 ½ inches at the narrow(entrance) and 6 inches across the exit. The mouth piece measures approximately 4 inches across the widest part by 2 inches at the narrowest part. Engraved on the side of the trumpet are the words“USE ONLY IN CASE OF EMERGENCY” There is no other writing. Words, logo, symbols, or other markings. The outer surface of the trumpet is essentially flawless in regards to dents, scratches, dings, gouges, or similar mars; the only exception being 3 very small dings which were apparently made by a round pointed object. These ... moreare very small and are located on the approximately opposite side from the soldered on handle. There are a few drag marks inside the trumpet, not deep enough to call them scratches. If one were to polish the surface, the marks would disappear. The mouthpiece has an edge deviation from the original shape but I had to examine it several times before I saw this. This is a plain.But finely and elegantly made item which is still functional. It is small enough to be easily stored but large enough to be useful on a boat. This item is a used Federal Sign and Signal corperation"voice gun" This is a model A12s. It is functional. And is VERY loud. This is basically an amplified megaphone. I would guess the condition to be good overall, there are a few scratches and dings from use. Not perfect, but pretty good condition. The battery case is in good condition with a little corrosion, but nothing major. This is a commercial use item, this is not a kids toy. I looked them up, Federal Sign and Signal still sell this item, new they start out at about $800.00 some people describe these as a fireman's speaker, or a portable sound system. Vintage jubilee Multi function bullhorn/ megaphone measuring 7 inches long by 8 1/2 inches tall. See pics for more measurements. Has numerous small dings and scratches but nothing serious. Hard black plastic handle with attached hand strap. Runs on two 9 volt batteries. This horn is untested however I have opened up the battery compartment and there is no corrosion and all wires are soldered where they should be. Has a on/off toggle switch on underneath side. I believe it to be unusual as I have never seen one like it. Horn part is a gold colored metal. We ship only within the USA. All item(s) ship priority mail.
