Up for auction is this beautiful 19th century rose wood lap desk. This was purchased by myself at the Ivey sellkirk auction on dec. 8th featuring items from the Stan and Lillian Musial estate. It is in great condition and absolutely beautiful. It is 9.5 inches high and 14.5 inches wide. It features mother of pearl and abalone highlights. It also has a scrolling back rail over the recessed pen and ink tray and a lidded compartment over the sloping. Leather inset hinged writing surface. Also there is a slide out drawer to the right. It has a lock on the drawer but I do not have the key. It is not locked though and opens. This is one of my favorites. I almost dont want to sell it. I hope it finds a good home. Beautiful glass front and solid wood hutch and secretary desk 2-piece unit. With inlaid leather writing surface. Right and left lower sides have shelves and middle has drawers for storage. The lower unit's middle drawer is a"secretary desk" drawer that has a drop down front with an inlaid leather writing area. And alcoves for envelopes in back. Measures: 60 inches across. 78.5 inches high. Upper glass section is 11 inches deep, and lower is 14 inches deep. The last two pictures show the back of the unit. Antique Slant Desk 1880 Primitive but Original Great piece very nice looking. Goes with primitive.Country, federal and early Armerican Décor. Nice slant desk for office-bedroom-foyer. Nice for young adult-child. Measures 25.5 by 25 and 32 inches high. Very old piece that has the wear from generation to generation. Overall sturdy and excellent original. Besides the age in the wood you can see some of the old original nails that were used during the 1800's. This was a desk that you would see furnished in a country farm house or rural area not an aristocratic rich family in the city so the desk would be handed down from generation to generation home to home so they would repair it as needed. You will see some old repair on the front of the desk by the top shown in photo of the old nails. Nails throughout are very old of the 1880 period ... morebut the hinges were replaced later as shown. Up for auction is a vintage Telechron model number 5 F 51 vintage mantle or shelf clock is electric it plugs in the wall and is of the famous Telechron family of clocks. This run runs solidly. Square on time and with that beautiful sweep secondhand, The wood of the the clock is in very good shape and the top section fairly glows with almost a tiger maple look,there is some crazing along the top and that is barely noticeable and are some small paint spatters but all in all for clock of this age it is in superb shape and runs exceedingly well! We bought these in Colorado in the 1970's. My dad refinished them around that time. They spent a few years in a barn. But still look good. There is a small split on the seat. This is a gorgeous vintage SOLID wood desk. Yes it is made of real wood. Not cheap pressed board. It was also, MADE IN THE USA. Super top quality by Taylor Made of Jamestown Ny Table Co. Dates from approximately the 1940's-50's. Nice large size. The top measures 48" wide x 24" deep. 29.5" high. Kneehole is 20.5" wide and 23.5" high. This has 8 drawers, four on one side, 3 on the other. One drawer is a double deep one. There is one center drawer, which has a lock, but alas, no key. All drawers are dovetailed. The drawers have vintage brass hardware, which has a nice patina. This appears to be original. There is a turned"rope" like decoration around the entire top of the desk. Finish is a brown/red color and is lovely. This is a fabulous piece of furniture, and a great decorative piece. It slides from an accordion look to a big box in an easy movement. It can hold legal or regular sized documents or papers. Made of wood, this should last you years and years and years of use. Each tray measures 13x9x2" 14x11x8" footprint when closed up. Opens to 19" with no additional changes. Condition is so often in the eyes of the beholder. I can believe that something is in terrible condition and you can think it's average. Taylor Stormoguide, Wood Case, Wall or Desk Mount Barometer, Patented 1926
This Taylor Instrument Stormoguide. Barometer is in very nice working condition. It has a nice dark wood finish and is made to either mount on the wall or set on table/desk top. The metal ring around the face is slightly tarnished and there are some spots on the dial but it still puts on a nice appearance for its age. There is a manual setting on the back to set the altitude. Readings seem to be accurate. I googled the patent number and found that the patent was issued on December 28, 1926 to Rowland Arnison, of South Woodford London, England, Assigner to Taylor Instrument Companies of Rochester, NY. The Taylor Instrument Company was founded by George Taylor in 1851and through a succession of various changes and merger over the years is now known as, Taylor Precision Products, with corporate headquarters in Oak Brook Illinois.

This is a beautiful oak desk and chair from the 50s. This set has beautifully designed angles. It is also finished on the back so it can be used as a floating desk and it will look great from every angle. It is solid oak with a blonde wood veneer and it is very heavy. The desk measure 29-1/2" tall, it is 46-1/4" long and 23-1/4" wide. The chair is 32" tall, 18" wide and 17" deep. The seat is 17-3/4" tall and 15-1/2" deep. Unique antique solid wood mahogany 9 drawer desk with 8 legs. Tongue and groove construction. Clean for its age. My guess is this item could be 50-70 years old or more. Colonial or Early American? Looks like it was once a darker brown mahogany type color. No brand name or number could be found.It was re-finished after looking over the drawers. Hardware appears original. Desk is about 42 inches long. 20 inches wide. Stands 29 1/2 with the legs. If removed, height would be about 26 inches. 9 drawers! Center drawer is 15" wide, side drawers are 9" inches wide. Antique Victorian / Edwardian Wood & Brass Desk Set with Glass Inkwells England
This is an Antique Victorian/ Edwardian Wood& Brass Desk Set with Beveled Glass Inkwells. The alms box was purchased in England and we assume it was probably made there. We do not know its age specifically but we were told it was Victorian or Edwardian and that appears to be correct. The wood definitely appears to hardwood. Possibly oak. The base measure 9 3/4" x 5 1/4" x 5/8" high. There is a cylindrical tray near the front for pens. Then base is nicely finished with a nice patina of age. Each inkwell is 2 1/2" square and 1 7/8" tall. All 12 edges are beveled. Enhancing their appearance. The center of the base has a solid brass handle with a shape similar to a nautical cleat, for easy lifting and moving the set on a desk top. Condition The set is overall in very nice condition. Especially considering its age, ... morebut I did find the following issues to note: One of the inkwells has two small. Narrow chips on the top edge of the bevel, 1/8" near a corner, and 1/16" further along the same edge as seen marked with two arrows. Please bear in mind that this is a closeup, more than two times actual size. These chips are not overly noticeable, and would not be seen at all if turned to the back There are some ink stains in the bottom of the depressions for the inkwells. Black ink in the left one and red ink in the right as seen in one of the photos. The desk set is offered as found/ as seen/ as described. Art Deco Brass and Wood Box With Potential - Lap Desk or Storage
Art Deco Brass and Wood Box This is a vintage brass and wood box with Art Deco detail. I'm not sure of the original purpose but it could be used as a lap desk or for storage. This box has a double hinged overlapping brass top and a green wood bottom. The wood inside the box is burgandy in color. The outside wood is painted a metallic green color. The corners of the box are nicely joined. The box is 14.5" by 9.5" by 3.5" It weighs two pounds and 10.3 ounces. There is no makers mark. The brass shows signs of age and wear. The brass has no dents. I have not tried to clean the brass. The inside wood is clean with no scratches. The hinged brass panels open and close easily. They are easy to remove and put back on. Be sure to have a look at our other items! I acquired this clock sometime back and was curious to see if this is a genuine Oswald clock after seeing the mostly intact label underneath. I took the back off and sure enough. It's embossed with the name, J Oswald, Germany" making it a genuine clock produced in the city of Freiburg, just west of the Black Forest. I even saw relatively fresh oil on the movement lending me to believe it was serviced recently.runs well and keeps good time so I suspect it was. This is a well made, carved wooden clock that is in the shape of a dog; Pekingnese or Pug? It ... moreis beautifully and meticulously detailed but what's really cool are the eyes.the one on the left marks the hours and the one on the right measures the minutes. Their eyes revolve to the current time as time ticks away; fascinating! The back of the case has a metal plate covering the key wind, mechanical movement. All hardware is present including the time setting knob and winding key; lasts for several days on a single wind. There is a slow/fast adjustment too in case the clock timing ever needs to be sped up or slowed down as you wish. The clock works and keeps good time too but being an antique clock and we don't know the service history, some adjustments or service may be necessary once the clock arrives at its new home. We often advise our clock customers to service their antique or vintage clocks at least once every three years. Doing so will preserve a classic clock like this one and keep it healthy for years to come. I've looked the clock over fairly well and can't find any damage save a small nick here and there; nothing detracting, nothing could!
