This is a great very heavy piece weight is 70 pounds. Dimensions are 28 x 21 x 23 1/2. Does have a lock but do not have key. Dovetailed drawers and on wheels. There are a few small blemishes but all in all piece is in great condition especially for its age. The inside is very clean and looks like it was hardly used. We found this piece in an estate that we purchased the contents of and it was in the living room used as a side table but in fact after research found that it was made to be a file cabinet. The biggest issue(and its minor) that old english won't cover is there are two small burn places on the top. Not sure what kind of wood. This is a very nice quality card cabinet and is made from tiger oak. It is missing it's handles as you can see in the pictures but does have some of the label holders above where the handles go. The cabinet is a dark stained tiger oak. The cabinet is in good shape for it's age and has a few nicks. Dings and scrapes on it as well as a stain on the top left side as you can see in the pictures. Each drawer has a little wooden slide to hold the cards. On the slides it says"THE GLOBE CARD INDEX FILE" and"Patented Aril 13th, 1897, Nov. 21st, 1899 and May 22nd, 1900" We're not sure of the age of this item but we'd bet that this dates from the very early 1900's. It's ... morein great shape for an item of it's age but it does need to be cleaned. The cabinet measures 20.5" W x 17" D x 14.24" H. The inside of the drawers will hold a 3" x 5" card horizontally. They didn't make many of them in the 1890's and obviously as they are made of glass. not many of the ones they did make have survived 110+ years. The overall condition is great though it is approx 110 years old. It isn't new or perfect. No big problems, very minor and overall it is in great condition. The cabinet has very deep rich tiger graining and a beautiful golden oak tone. There is some small pieces of veneer missing along the bottom on the left side as well as some small pieces of veneer missing on the interior right side near the sliding door. Nothing major and not a big deal. The interior has numerous original holes on each side so that shelves can be installed, the doors slide perfectly and I believe that the glass is original. The door even retains its original brass knob. As the doors are glass. My preference would be a buyer who can pick up the cabinet though I am willing to ship it. The cabinet comes apart into four sections for easy moving. Each section has 15 drawers. There is also a base/riser section. Two pull-out table sections, and a top cap. There is a mix of wood and plastic drawer bodies. I would guess that two of the units came with wood drawers and two were added later with plastic drawers. All of the drawer faces are the same, though if you look very closely the guide rod is slightly different in appearance. One guide rod is missing and a couple are loose or slightly bent. The top of the cabinet shows some wear. From an estate sale. A 5-section barriester bookcase with base and top. The top 3 sections are regular bookcases, the bottom two sections each have 3 file cabinet drawers. Patent date 1917. Overall outside dimensions are 41.5" wide, 17" deep, and 79" tall. The inside dimensions of the bookcase shelf: 15.5" between the back and the back face of the door, 40" wide, and 10" tall to the bottom of the door when it is rolled up- that is, the*useful* height that you could fit a book in. I did some google research and couldn't find a standard size the corresponded to these dimensions. So they may be a custom unit. Very deep, but pretty short. There's nail holes on the fronts of the file drawers, looks like they used to have handles, and probably also brass frames for putting a label in. So you might want to replace ... morethose.
