Up for sale is this gorgeous Clark and Gibby desk chair! The chair is in great condition. With a few spots of wear to the leather but it's still soft and useable. There are several scratches on the leather(see photos) though they are superficial and do not go all the way through. The wood looks great, as do the original gears! This chair is a bit smaller than most antique desk chairs. It stands 31.5" tall to the top of the back. The back rest is 15.5" wide, and the seat is 17.5" wide. The seat is adjustable from 16 3/4" to 20" off of the floor and the back rest is also adjustable both up& down and forward& back. The aluminum has some wear scuffs, the paint on the back of the backrest has some scratches and the cloth on the backrest has some slight fading to the color,but really in pretty good condition. The chair had 2 electric cords, one will need plug, when plugged in it would operate the electric part of the chair, the hydraulic didn't seem to work. The 2 Large machines, needed to be wired before testing, but the lights had separate plugs, they were checked and do work. Also, the assistants chair has a small hole along the seam, very small. I am not sure about X-Ray equipment, I cannot test. I purchased this from a individual that purchase a house, and this left in basement. Vintage Inter-Office Communication Envelope Ohio State Penitentiary Columbus. Ohio This historic 10.25"x 4.5" original envelope comes from one of the most notorious prisons in the United States. This artifact was used within the prison and never meant for public eyes. The Ohio Penitentiary. Also known as the Ohio State Penitentiary, was a prison operated from 1834-1984 in downtown Columbus, Ohio, in what is now known as the Arena District. The prison housed 5,235 prisoners at its peak in 1955. Conditions in the prison have been described as"primitive, and the facility was eventually replaced by the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, a maximum security facility in Lucasville. During its operation, it housed several well-known inmates, including Confederate General John H. Morgan, who famously escaped the prison during the ... moreCivil War, O. Henry, Chester Himes, and Sam Sheppard, whose story is said to have inspired the movie The Fugitive. A separate facility for women prisoners was completed within the walls of the Ohio Penitentiary in 1837. The buildings were demolished in 1998. Great old swivel Horn Chair. Chair is sturdy. Looks like it was reupholstered a long time ago with black leather. If you look up under the base closely you can see the other fabric. Crack in one arm see picture. Arm is sturdy despite the crack. A few white marks on the seat and a blemish on the front which can be seen in the picture. A few scratches and rub marks on some of the horns. This chair is very old. Likely early 1900s. Seat is approx 15" deep. Approx 24" wide at the widest points. 34" Any questions please let me know. Antique P Derby Slat Back, Caned Seat Office Desk Chair w Arms - Gardner, MA
Back when furniture was made to last. This chair seems to have had quite a busy life. So much so that the caned seat wore out. It has been recaned and has a wonderful patina that has been preserved and not refinished. This chair is extremely comfortable and solid. The recaned seat will last for years to come. Derby. Knowlton and Co. was established in Gardner in 1863. Several years later, Mr. Derby bought out his business partners. In 1880 he established P. Derby& Co. By 1897 P. Derby& Co. was listed as the second-largest chair manufacturer in the country. It had branches in Boston, New York and Chicago. The company specialized in cane furniture, but also made traditional wooden tables and chairs. It went out of business in 1935. This chair still has the label on the underside of the seat.
