The exquisite work on this Victorian writing box is quite outstanding. Intricate quality work and highly decorative. The box is finished in Walnut with exotic woods used to create a plethora of exciting designs on all sides of the box, a true sign of quality to have this fine work all around. The box does not have a key, the fitted interior would be damaged if the lock was removed. Once opened, you can see that all of the internal brass fittings have been professionally re-polished to gleam and a new writing skiver has been fitted with gold embossing. There is a cut crystal inkwell with a lift off lid(a few rough spots around the interior neck, mentioned purely for accuracy) a removable pen tray and another little lidded compartment for pen nibs and the like. Fitted to a brass adjustable collar. It measures 5" high, and almost 4" across at widest. It is in excellent condition with no chips, or cracks, and the brass fitting looks to be in great shape, and has its original screw to tighten to the lamp, the collar is about 1 1/4" to fit to, and there are 2 pins holding the shell on a brass piece which connects to the ring. one of the pins must have fallen out, and was replaced with a tiny screw, which works fine, just want to mention. 70'S MID CENTURY MODERN VLADIMIR KAGAN WALNUT AND LUCITE DESK
Description. Hello. Bidding on a rare 70's mid century modern desk designed by Vladimir Kagan. Large and very heavy desk made of a floating walnut top with rounded edges throughout on a thick curved lucite base. Three drawers with inset chrome pulls. Small shelf area on the underside back of the kneehole area. A very substantial and well made desk. Rare to the market. Size& Condition. Size: 76" w x 38" d x 29" t. Condition: In overall good vintage condition. The walnut areas have some wear in areas. Mostly to the inner and outer edges, with some more noticeable heavier scratches and scuffs to the outer front edge on right side of desk, and the inner front right side of the knee hole. See photos. A couple deep scratches on the back side top edge of the frame. The drawers have a few scratches and depressed marks. The ... moretop is in overall very good condition, with some light scratches and a few depressed marks, but overall pretty clean. The lucite base is clear and not foggy. It does have some scratch marks and scuffs in areas. A couple are long along the back side, but not terribly distracting. Mostly noticeable only up close. There is one radiated clam shell like distress mark on the right side edge of the base where the base must of taken a hit. See photo. It is about a half inch wide. Shipping& Handling Options. U-Ship. 1960 Ford lucite? desk top lighter- 300-500 club with Ford emblem. 2" square and approximately 3 1/2" high. Front& back sides both have the same thing. There is only one emblem& writing on each side but when you look at it from a corner. It appears as two. Very interesting! The last picture shows 2 little cracks on the back side on the top. Other than that, is in good condition. I don't believe the lighter is actually in working condition but this is still a great piece of advertising/history and would be a great addition to your collection.
